Over a 100,000 Public and Private sector workers did not receive their wages this morning due to incompetance causing a glitch in their system, for some staff this follows on a 5 week month since last payday, causing a lot of stress and worry for many as most have mortgage payments and standing orders set up to go out today, so far all we have got is a "profuse apology" and assurance that money will be in accounts by tomorrow morning. What a bunch of clownsCensored

Time to go back to cash in a brown envelope of a Friday. The good old days when you opened the wage packet while you ordered your first pint of the weekend.
I could agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.

Sorry to hear about that Brianie....... should not happen these days and causes major problems for a great many people.

On a positive note , if it happens again next month , at least you'll have the money you saved on your smokes to fall back on.

used to get paid by cheque on a Thursaday when I was in the public service, and used to get 30min "bank time" to go lodge it even though we just cashed them at work.

Are public servants not paid on Fridays?

And what allowances would these be then because I sure as hell don't get any. Do yourself a favour and stop reading the Indo

I didn't say they were getting them now at this point and time but there were plenty of different allowances in the past. Lads working in Dublin castle getting a shoe allowance for posting the letters! Sausy just said he got half an hour to lodge his cheque.
