More to do with the fact he doesn't appear to care much about football. He was so disappointing at Corinthians that it led to supporters invading their training ground complaining about him and Emerson. He had great potential. Injuries ruined him. Was definitely not a good option for the World Cup. Before the World Cup it was logical to pick Fred and Jo. Widely seen as the top number 9s from Brazil. Playing with a false 9(Robinho) was the most likely alternative to them. Scolari tried it in friendlies but decided against it. Edited by tribalarmy - 09 Jul 2014 at 3:03pm |

And the conditions were over-hyped i think beforehand too. Have they had that much of a negative effect on one team compared to their opponents?

Moleman, you hit the nail on the head with the use of the word contrived in regards to Luiz. I think he is not the worst player, he has good technique and is quite athletic. He is just mentally unstable, that's all.

A lot of people read too much into last years Confederations Cup, the bookies included, having that Brazilian side as favourites throughout

Coutinho and Lucas too. Lucas could have done a job as a holding midfielder last night - they badly needed it. Coutinho is a lot better than Fred and Bernard and others too. Both worth a squad place at least. |

His stats dont suggest that
Would he not be getting booed as hes on loan from the city rivals? Anyway, looks as if hes off to Inter And is most certainly a far better option than any of the 3 "forwards" he was replaced with

Pato was a sub at Corinthians. Now he plays for Sao Paulo where he gets booed by his own fans for being poor. He's so good they didn't want him to sign for them. |

Sums up this contrived Brazil side to a tee. They were a crowd of bullsh#t artists and didn't seem at all focused on their on field jobs. David Luiz being the perfect example of this, he was an absolute disgrace last night. Anybody trying to defend Luiz here, I urge you to watch back over the game. The actual lack of effort this lad put in, in a world cup semi, while captaining his country at home, was bewildering to say the least. On the money GerK Just to edit : I've mentioned this in other posts. The part in bold was a horrid act of 'look at me' on Luizs part. Not sure how anybody can warm to this lad.

All he had to do was hug him then, not turn it into a circus. Luiz wanted to be at the centre of attention and he grabbed his chance |

Tony, in fairness Neuer also made a couple of smart saves at the start of the second half.
the locals here want Argentina -- would be horrified if they lost to Holland |

Do you not think calling him a coward is a bit OTT? He was one of many players who were guilty of going missing, not defending etc... it's quite clear that he's not a mainstream defender, more of an attacking midfielder playing as a centre back. Would you trust him as a central defender? I wouldn't. So why did Scolari? Scolari got his tactics and his team selection wrong again last night. William and Ramires should have played and Fred has done absolutely nothing to warrant a starting place. Everything that went wrong all goes back to Scolari. It must be said that Germany were outstanding last night, especially in the final third, they punished Brazil with every mistake they made, the composure, passing and vision by Germany was excellent. |

I think Scolari knew they weren't good enough to win it and saw a get out of jail card with Neymar's injury. They're a poor side and were actually lucky to get that far so they had a ready made excuse if they lost a close game. Problem was that the whole circus took over and there wasn't a steady hand on the pitch such as Silva to organise them. Whatever David Luiz is, he's not a leader of men, his indiscipline last night was staggering and worthy of a ten year old. Once they went 2 down they lost all shape and lost their heads, the pressure just built and Germany exploited it. I don't think they'd have won even with Neymar and Silva but I don't think they'd have capitulated in the manner they did. Funny thing is, they had a number of chances to make the score respectable when Germany took their foot off the gas in the second half but through fluffing shots or taking the wrong option they couldn't even do that. His two elbows in the first half haven't been mentioned much either. Then there was him doing this after getting a compatriot sent off one day - It was horrible how he thought the world cup was all about him The showing off during the anthems, the dropping to his knees in prayer after the final whistle But the most bewildering thing for me about this sh*te defender is that he is somehow seen as one of the worlds best and a club have spent £50m on him!!
