It's like a big game of bulldogs charge What an anthem by the way, love the way they keep going after the music stops, for all the sh!teing on we do about ours, there are a lot more passionately sung anthems on display at this tournament. Sad end for Spain from the point of view that they had the chance to become without doubt the greatest international team ever (they are IMO) and they failed miserably. The system, strategy and line-up needs to change if they are to win trophies again. Costa is the bulb of your man Emilio from that film Dangerous Minds. |

Yesterday showed why the Dutch wont win the WC IMO all over the place they were against the Aussies and i think they we will score more than you attitude will eventually backfire. Chile were very impressive with heir use of possession and also their work rate but as said it might count against them against Holland as they gave 100% last night and alos i dont think they have any reason to be afraid of Brazil in last 16.

As I said in the RIP Guardiola-Ball/Landon Donovan was right thread, it was fantastic at the start and then it because excessively slow and used as a defensive mechanism rather than to turn teams over. It was and still is a very effective way of playing but the later days of it was not very nice to watch. It was like watching those Sebastian Vettel races last year. Yeah its great, bravo, but I aint watching it.

It became excessively slow due to the busparkers.
The 'model' flourished when Eto'o was at Barca and when Torres/Villa were on form. |

By my calculations/expectations, the winner of tonight's Holland/Chile game would have a path to the semis of...
Croatia/Mexico, followed by one of Costa Rica/Ivory Coast/Greece.
The loser of tonight's game will likely face...
Brazil, followed by Italy/Colombia.
There's a nice little incentive for them!
