Used to always get lost in the one in the Square when I was a kid, grandparents names were called out over the speakers a few times.

Why is the English spelling Dunleary not used and Dun Laoghaire used instead?

Why would it anglicised? It’s named after a high king.

The town was built following the 1816 legislation that allowed the building of a major port to serve Dublin. It was known as Dunleary until it was renamed Kingstown in honour of King George IV's 1821 visit, and in 1920 was given its present name, the original Irish form of Dunleary. Over time, the town became a residential location, a seaside resort and the terminus of Ireland's first railway.

I think your question should be, why do we use the English spelling/pronunciation for the majority of our placenames?

Roy Keane’s current favorite too.  Mary Kennedy’s nephew.

Not a fan of any of those type of singers.  All sound the same.  I blame Ed Sheeran.

You should get a job with Wikipedia,  your writing style would fit in well there.

I've notice Subway sandwich bars have changed their logo back to their 1990's logo.  In the 2000's it had italic writing and now its standard again.

This post was brought to you in association with Emma Mattress. 'Get a good night's sleep, with Emma'

Its interesting when you trip around parts of the US and you encounter delis that sell the sandwiches that Subway sell. Eating the real deal is delicious.

and probably that you get something resembling real bread and meat in the delis as opposed to Subways sh*te.

When did the European Championships start being called 'The Euros'??

First time I hear the term was either July 19 2004 or 2008
