I can’t see any Premier League club taking a punt on him.

To a team of greater quality than Preston if an offer comes in for him, obviously.

Is he Premier League quality, though? Probably not quite.

Cool

He doesn't possess an X factor. Also a bit like Jeff you're not really too sure what exactly he does or where's best to deploy him. He might get picked up by a premier League manager whose outlook is a bit more old school. I don't think he has amazing abilities as either defensive midfielder or an attacking midfielder to set him apart for a premier League starting spot.

He definitely falls into the same bracket as Conor Hourihane. A bit of a wishy-washy midfielder. I think that browne is a better all round midfielder than Conor, who when you strip away his dead ball ability doesn't offer a huge amount.

Haven’t seen much of Browne but when he came to the Valley he was nothing like Hourihane. He was Preston’s go to in midfield and was always on the ball and making a presence, the exact opposite of Hourihane. Maybe that was just a good day for him but he definitely wasn’t wishy washy. Looked a really solid 8 who put his stamp on the game.

He's absolutely nothing like Hourihane, and the comparison illustrates that those making it haven't watched him very closely. Browne is far more athletic and better at carrying the ball forward, Hourihane has a more cultured delivery. There aren't really any similarities apart from the fact they both have decent goalscoring records.

Agreed with the above. Nothing like Hourihane

Wasn't literally comparing Browne and Hourihane but they are competing for the same midfield spot in Ireland team.

They are in the same bracket in that they seem to fall between the cracks as midfielders. Seen far too many games where you're left wondering what they bring to proceedings. Though one thing they do have in common is their inconsistency. Maybe it's the managers they've been under (Alex Neil looks like more of a spoofer the longer he goes on), but regardless, I don't see a future for either in the Irish midfield.

If he doesn't sign a new contract at Preston in the summer with only 1 year left on his deal he may well get a move to a bigger club in The Championship or even a lower end Premier League club (potentially a newly promoted side even)

For those who are dismissive of Browne and Hourihane in an Ireland shirt, our tactics/systems over the last decade have failed our midfielders no end from an attacking/creative side.

Nominations for young player of the year.
Alan Browne
Josh Cullen
Callum Robinson
I'd expect Browne to pick up this award.

strange. I’d even imagine his place in the next Irish squad is far from guaranteed . He hasn’t been great for mid table PNE this season

I think I'm right in saying that Terry Phelan and Jeff Kenna both won Young Player of the Year at 25. Really shows the ageing profile of the team at that time.

Joe Hodge a shoe-in for his one and should be in the 19's as well after those performances at that higher age-group.
Can't wait to see him in the 21's, hopefully as soon as 2021.
