I wouldn’t benchmark yourself against others-

The main thing is the earlier the better. The longer you own your own property the better return you make.

you don't make any return, you have a place to live for 30 years, interest, maintenance, taxes, be lucky to break even

be smart and rent cheap, move anywhere whenever you want, invest your money in a business or yourself

do not become a slave to the banks Thumbs Up

YEah but most of us planning on lviing beyond 30 years, so once you have your mortgage paid you have a valuable asset, plus rent free for the rest of your days. Unlikely to be able to do that unless you've bought at some point

Be smart and rent so you pay off some other persons mortgage for them. So they buy a house with just 20% deposit and renters pay off their mortgage after 25 years and they now own 100% of the property that has also increased in value. Those guys are fools - they are making loads of money and they don’t even know it.

You obviously didn’t invest in any education for yourself if you believe that crap you posted.

Was just curious when people purchased. I'm 29 and have a permanent job with a decent wedge. Was looking this year at potential properties. Not sure how anyone could purchase a home on their own these days.

Ftb mortgage and 10% deposit would probably need around 20-25k savings.

I have been paying less on my mortgage for 4 years now than what I would be paying in rent.

So, no, you're wrong with this one.

My mortgage for a 4 bed in Dublin is 1k a month. Can be more than 2k a month to rent a 4 bed in Dublin anyway.
