Was at the Valley for the match. He was decent, honestly probably their best player going forward but they weren't great. Played out the right wing but he lacks the pace to really get at the full-backs of which Charlton's are their for the taking. Has some good tricky feet which would be more useful centrally than out wide as he just couldn't burst into the spaces out wide. His deliveries were a mixed bag, played in a few good crosses but also had a fair few really poor ones.
They heavily favoured his right side though, which is a good sign. Created the most chances and had the second most touches and passes only behind the RB supporting him. Needs to work on the consistency of his final ball but at the same time he wasn't surrounded by much quality, sounds familiar. All in all a fairly average game for what looked a pretty poor side.

So in a number 10 role he could prosper which is where I feel he should be playing.

Agreed - a creative player like Crowley/Byrne/kilkenny as a number 10 in behind a quick forward like obefemi or parrott may work well.
At the moment I think we're looking to get the ball to a big man like mcgoldrick or long to hold. Which isn't a bad option I'd like to see us apply both approaches depending on opposition etc

Was at Feyenoord v AZ last season. Championship standard football. Crowley was playing for a mid table Eredivisie table there and wasn't rocking any boats there. He is now playing off and on for a mid table Championship club. He is nothing special and if he was he wouldn't be at Birmingham City. How many people who want to see play for us have actually seen him play or have actually watched the standard he was playing at in The Netherlands? Doubt many have. It's crap standard. It's a glorified SPL. He was so good for Willem II that he didn't even start the cup final. He only wants to play for us because he's not good enough in any way for England. But people on here want to pick up the scraps.

But there is nearly a statue for Jack Byrne who is playing Eircom league Where does playing for Rovers rank in comparison to playing in the Dutch league or Championship? |

Lads on here are very sensitive, especially when it comes to Dublin lads. I think Jack is a fantastic player, exactly what we need but it is the logic that makes me laugh. Put it this way. If Crowley was playing for Rovers and Byrne was playing for Birmingham - can you imagine how much the lads would be up in arms over Byrne not being selected. **** *** I know there is question marks on his availability. Truth is they are similar players, exactly what we need.

Riiiigghhttt, lads discussing the Dan Crowley and the level he’s been playing at now somehow turns into a Dublin thing.
Mention the Dublin biased meeja there to complete the bitter idiot bingo

Jack Byrne has nothing to do with this but he is a Championship player at best. He did well against against the Bulgarian B team. He was on the bench for what was essentially our B team. Does anyone on here actually watch football? |

Watched Birmingham vs Wigan and cant really say I was overly impressed by crowley today.
Offered for the ball a lot a was tidy enough in possession but really didn't make an impact on the game. I will say that the majority of Birmingham players are pretty terrible and lack any sort of quality. I would think Crowley would have performed better in the Wigan team as they seemed to move the ball better |

Decent first half for Crowley, always involved in the build up, some really nice touches and passes.
Starting to show a bit of class here

He's playing on the right of midfield but I wouldn't say winger. When the ball is on the left he moves very central. Hi link up play has been exceptional today, very rarely gives the ball away and always looks to pass forward.
