We need a way to stop average players going to the lower leagues in England to make a living.

*Minimum of 12 month contracts offered to players

*The FAI centrally contracts 2 "star" players for each premier division side, same players must get involved in promotional work.

*Municipal stadiums
time is the stuff that life is made of, don't waste it.

Most clubs struggle to pay 10 month contracts for players never mind 12 months.

2. Sack John Delaney

Centralised Contracts

have all clubs in the country associated with a LOI team. through these have proper youth academies using the best players from the 'supporting' clubs.*

Improve facilities

*not sure how you would deal with relegation from 1st Div
maybe just have the 20 team through the 2 league without any relegation from 1st Div

Get rid of John Delaney

Get coverage on Sky Sports

Like the sound of that. Even if it was just one player each would do a lot of good for the league.

Never thought I'd see the day, but I agree 100% with RTID here. No player under the age of 18 should be allowed go to England for a start. There needs to be academies set up and while one at every club probably isn't feasible, at least have a Centre of Excellence a la Clairefontaine in France in each province. Take the kids in at 12 as they start secondary school and get them an education in these centres while learning the game.

I seen a staggering statistic recently that in Germany there is 1 coach to every 150 children while there 1 coach for every 650 in Ireland. Get our coaches trained up correctly, and get them into these provincial centres and get each and every schoolboy club on the same page i.e Player development rather than seeing dollar signs in the eyes as each kid gets a transfer in England

Get rid of UCD bring nothing to the league , bit harsh but the truth hurts , drastic improvement of Facilities is needed ASAP ! its 2013 not 1913 , covered areas in stadiums are a must and anyone who thinks otherwise is living in Spain Cool and finally the FAI to get off their arses and make the product that is LOI work , if they invested as much time and effort in the LOI as they do in the International Team things might start going in the right direction .

Have to disagree, ok while they have very few people who watch them, they are the ones doing things correctly off the pitch. Scholarship programme which attracts players from around the country, owning their own ground and facilities and consistently producing players who are good footballers. They are there on merit IMO and deserve their place in the premier. Speaking to lads I know in the league and they all say they get played off the park some weeks by UCD, its just their naivety and lack of experience that kills them

Plenty of the good players around the league have spent time at UCD as well. One of the best clubs around for young lads to join.

Scholarship scheme is top job and they go about their buisness the right way , but its the repetitive scenario of fighting to stay in the league year after the year, that and the low crowds that need fixing .

Ok, obviously the quality of players becomes a factor but if say the likes of Bray become a top top class side will the crowds actually improve that much ? I do not think so because they play in a sh*t hole. Sorry if that offends anyone but its true. If Limerick, Cork and Rovers are around the top of the table the crowds have the potential to be very high. Not the case with other clubs.

If bray play in a state of the art stadium will their crowds improve? I doubt it

Limerick have the best facilities of the lot, their first season back in the premier league in years, are their crowds impressive? Not particularly

You have the second best facilities, using the attendance thread on foot.ie your attendances have fallen by 1000 people per game from 2 seasons ago

Fai cup final in a state of the art stadium, two teams from 2 of the biggest towns in the country and only 17000 people turn up, only 16000 there last year for two teams from two cities

Don't get me wrong, I would love if we could all improve our facilities and have the fans to use them, I just don't buy the whole if you build it they will come argument

Yes, lots to be done this league doesn't just have one problem it has many, its just something I feel strongly about. As well we all know this league has and will continue to produce good players.

Go to local primary schools promoting the particular club, give them a scarf or something to associate themselves with the club, then bring as many as possible of them to a few games free of charge.
67% points to games ratio at the last Euro's (better than Portugal's)
