Brake caliber/calipers? went yesterday. Burning smell coming out of it. AA chap said not safe to drive as it could seize up again. Expensive?

Caliper. 
More commonly it’ll be the brake pad seized in the carrier & not necessarily the caliper seized. 
If it’s seized pad you’re looking at brake pads & discs replaced. Of caliper is seized you’re looking at pads, discs & caliper. So rough estimate maybe €200 or €400 if caliper is f**ked
