Anyone know options on PCP in terms of a downgrade? Currently on second PCP with VW and am 1 year into a 3 year agreement. Circumstances have changed so wondering if it is possible to downgrade the car in order to lower monthly repayments. Assume deposit would be lost, etc. but not sure if it is even an option or do I have to see out the agreement...

You're going to have to call VW Bank to find out, could be the case that you might have to buy yourself out of the contract.

Not aimed at you but I think a lot of people enter in PCP's not knowing what they are getting into. If you plan on changing your car every 3 years (with the same brand usually) then it's fine. But a lot of people just see it as a way of getting a brand new car. As someone said before, PCP is a brilliant way of getting into a car you cant afford. Loads of people taking out loans to cover the balloon payments meaning they are paying for the car over up to 10 years!!!.

Octavia VRS 2015 model and the exhaust inspection system light has just come on the dash board.

Apart from bringing it to the garage to run the diagnostics. Could this be a sensor issue or something more serious?

I'm thinking it could be related to the DPF and the car needs a good spin to clear it but not sure if that is the best course of action.

Have you done a long run in it lately? Might need a DPF regen.

Not really, the light came on last week and brought it for a spin to clear it.

The DPF has a separate warning light - that is cleared now after doing the spin above.

The manual says the following " exhaust inspection system light" - fault in the emission control system, the system makes possible operation emergency mode - there maybe a noticeable reduction in engine performance.

There didn't appear to be any noticeable performance issues when I drove it today.

Could be the Lambda sensor. If it says on just get someone with an OBD2 reader to read the fault code. Cheep and easy fix if it is the sensor.

bring it to the garage horse. Have had this a couple of times with mine over the years. Ignored it coming back from Belfast once and could only manage to do 50km an hour until I got to the gargage

Have it sorted now, I just put a bit of masking tape over the fault indicator.

Went to a local guy that I always use as I find him very trustworthy.

Anyway, the issue was glow plugs, he reset the fault and that's cleared.

He said they might need to be replaced at a later stage, which can be a tricky job.

Looks like someone ran a key or something similar over the car door, four scratches 2-4 inches long

Any idea how much that'd cost to fix?

depends how deep. If it's a light scrape on the surface then cutting compound should get it out but if it's down to the metal then it will need to be painted and depending on the design/lines of the door the whole thing might need to be painted to blend it in.

Looks pretty light, just taken the paint off but no damage to the metal itself it looks like

Hopefully just a scuff on the lacquer then. Get a decent cutting compound from a motor factors and have a go.
