Ireland may be out of the World Cup, Trapatoni failed us for five and a half years.
But which countries will Irish fans root for in World Cup 2014 ? Teams which has Irish names on their World Cup Squads i.e Australia or USA under Klinnsmann ? Will Irish fans cheer on England ? I will come to the point. Will there be any surprise countries or dark horses that may reach the quarter Finals or beyond in World Cup 2014 ? I think it will be a Brazil vs Germany Final. Where will England reach in the World Cup 2014 , the quarter finals or semis ? Will Rooney, Walcott,Sturridge blossom ? Football is a funny old game , any thing can happen in the World Cup, you get weird results in the World cup. Roll on Brazil 2014. Yours in sport Hugh Dublin |

Always had soft spot for Germany.
Won't be supporting England. Quarters at best for them, Rooney will flop like he has done in most major chamionships
Dark Horses depending on if they qualify and group they get would be Bosnia and Chile both very exciting attacking teams with some very good players Dzeko,Begovic, Pjanic,Alexis Sanchez, Vidal, Isla could see one of them reaching quarters maybe even semis

Due to the climate the winners will be a south american team. The energy will be sapped from the European teams.

Belgium out of interest...not much different a nation than ourselves ( OK twice as big) but it would give you an indication of what Ireland would be like as a competing nation if we had no GAA or Rugby....I am assuming Football is by far the number 1 sport there amongst participating males.
Anyway , they have a great set of individuals and I will be very interested to see if their manager can get to bring out their fullpotential. |
