No way. Kenny, Kerr and Stan definitely get more flack than either of them and I'd put Trap before MON too.

He was a great manager for us and brought us some fantastic times and memories. I really dont think you would find a genuine fan who wouldn't be thankful and full of praise for MONs time in charge as a whole.

Jack, Mick and Trap all felt the same pressure from fans in the last year of the job when everyone felt they were out staying their welcome having lost the players both physically in retirement and mentally in the dressing room which coincided with poor results and performances.

All 3 above had equal or better records but guess what? They didn't take the criticism personally like MON! Or at least they didn't constantly air it publicly! They all knew their time was up.

In fairness, very few managers leave their job on good terms.
That’s the nature of football.

Not many past Irish managers have picked up a more lucrative job after leaving their Irish one.

While I agree that Gelsenkirchen, Vienna, Cardiff, Lille and Germany at home were extremely satisfying nights there were contrasting performances too the WC play off at home to the Danes and his last hurrah when he parked the bus in Aarhus in a dead rubber nations league game. Then there was the game in Warsaw where we had a free hit at 2-1 down but never really went for it and the appalling training camp in Antalya which was labelled as a joke by some players (not publicly).

Richard Keogh had a late header in that game in Poland that would have made it 2-2 and w would have qualified automatically

Yeah but that was the last second.  We never made any attempt to push forward.  The tactics in that game were a joke.

We had a free pass to win the game and we had the safety net of the playoff regardless and Martin 0-Nil decides to play it cagey and park the bus.

Thought Martin came across well in the interview. Would love to see him interviewed by a proper sports journalist about his time with Ireland, Tubridy just doesn't have a clue.

Being a Villa fan I have mixed feelings about his time in charge at Villa Park. But you can't really argue with the results he got as Ireland manager, we had some great days under him. He should definately have gone after the Denmark play-off though.

Tubridy is suited to politics and should be presenting the likes of Prime Time.  I don't find him good as a chat show host.

Can't see the Late Late lasting much longer tbh but if it does maybe  Tommy Tiernan might do a  better job. But the problem is the budget.  The guests are brutal and they seem to come on once or twice a year now.  Christy Moore must be due another appearance along with Vogue Williams.

Rory Stories would be no more suited to hosting Prime Time or anything political/current affairs related than Tubridy ffs, he’s best suited to radio sh*te talk and I say that as someone who has never or at least cant recall ever hearing him on the wireless.

I saw Tubridy interviewing some politician a few years back and he was decent.  He was able to give him a decent grilling.  Can't remember who it was now...

He's not a natural at chat shows.  Forced laughter and craic.

Awful interview as you'd expect from Tubridy.

However, O'Neill did admit that the last year of his reign was poor. Even he probably wishes he'd gone after the Danish disaster.

And Tubridy should not be doing politics. This country has suffered enough at the hands of useless Fianna Fáilers.

Probably a million reasons why he didn’t wish to go

Irish fans were grateful for him and thankful of the nights in question but last year and a half of his reign soured it along with his complete inability to see the deteriorating dross in front of him was his fault
