Yes it’s on Sunday week.
The draw is in Dublin so you can’t have us hosting the draw, and us having no manager there!

Why not though?

In all seriousness, the sad thing is I'd say there are a lot of players who are secretly doing a jig.

To add to this, I'd say there are a few worried players too. There's a few "regulars" I can think of who will be lucky to get a handful caps in the rest of their playing days.

We had some great nights with Mon and France 2016 was a success.
I’m sure we’ll look back in 20 years time and say he was a good manager.

He should have immediately left after the Denmark game and that ruined his legacy a bit for me.
At least we have a chance for 2020 now.

In truth, we peaked away in Austria and have been on a sharp decline since.

So many odd selections, bizarre spats and pure belligerence. Tie for all sides to part ways.

Never been a more important time for the kleptocracy in abbotstown to end.

Kenny is the man for the job now.

He overachieved with an awful bunch for a while, but it was over after Denmark last year. It wasn't just that game either, it was the culmination of a bad year.
Everybody knew last year, it just took the FAI a year, and I presume a lot of money(I assume he didn't walk away empty handed).

Unfortunately for O'Neill, he was more focused on saving his own reputation and trying to take any blame away from him, than doing what any decent manager would have done and focused more on improving results by analyzing where he was going wrong.

The absolute misconceptions & mishandling of the Irish team over last 12 months make it extremely difficult to praise Martin O'Neill now.

In time, his contribution will be praised. Whether he talks about it as much as the two European Cups he won, we shall see.

The big mistake MON made was choosing Keane as assistant. I said it at the time that I couldnt see who is going to bring the tactical know how to the set up. Had he brought Robertson things might have ended better for him.

Thank god to see them both away. It couldn't go on as it was- we were a shambles. Some fabulous nights under MON though so I won't say it was all bad but the last year and a half has been dreadful.
Walters coming back from an offside position but Shane Long was definitely onside- Shane Lonnggggggg.... has done it!!!!

Cheers for the memories Martin. Clap It was the right time to leave after a poor nations league.

I think it was Deise that mentioned the lasting psychological impact from that 5-1 defeat and our inability to recover from it which could spell th end of O'Neill. Would agree. I don't think the players had the same belief in the manager after it. Look at how the heads dropped in Cardiff when we went behind.

Wouldn't mind seeing Kenny gien a shot at it but given the fact we're hosting the Euros, the FAI may go for a more established candidate.
Wings? They're only the band The Beatles could have been.

Things never end well for a manager. Even jack charlton's last run of games were a joke. We drew 0-0 in liechenstein.

Its easy to say Mon was a bad manager for us. The truth is he was great for us but he stayed on long enough to lose the team, just like charlton, mccarthy, stan and trap.

Mon gave us some great nights:

Germany away
Germany home
Bosnia away
Bosnia home
Italy in Lille
austria away
Wales away

Beat a team ranked above us for first time in years and won an away game against a team above us for first time in 30 years.

Im glad to see him go but the right thing to do is to acknowlede that in his two campaigns in charge he brought us to a Euros and to a world cup play off.

Agree with Rolo. MON jumped the shark though with his mad HT substitutions against Denmark in Nov 2017 and after that it become impossible to keep turning a blind eye to his many infuriating quirks.
