Everyone in this city on a power trip, stewards had a zero tollerance strategy for fun, harassing kids for standing and singing, bunch of pricks, deco was most entertaining bit of the match

Positives from last night, albeit it a meaningless friendly

We held possession well, held our shape well, composed defensively.  We created at least 5 good chances, Long should have scored at least two, on another day he would have.

Long offers so much more than keane, pace, power movement, he stretches the defensive line, defenders hate playing against him. He scored a pretty good goal in Wembley. Long has still played well enough for us even without scoring.

Any half decent defender would put keane in their pocket to be fair, he can exploit the weaker teams alright, but has consistently been anonymous in the bigger games. He would not find space, and has not got the pace or movement to create it.

Its all about scoring goals though and Long has proved for us now that he causes so much trouble for defenders but does not take the chances.   Therefore we need goals from other parts of the team.  It is why Walters gets a nod ahead of playing both McGeady and Mc Clean, and it is will be why keane plays instead of Hoolahan.  Keane did a decent defensive job in Sweden and if a chances comes about he is far and away our best finisher.  Has he lost the ability to get a chance against a decent side, possibly.

ah look , i agree with all of that, trap wont drop keane though and long for all his good work in the austria game where i thought he was brilliant didnt score, if he had got that back heel we'd be in different shape now... he needs to score more imo... hopefully he will start doing so...

Was the Estonia away qualifier not a big game?!.
Why dont you compile me a video of all the fantastic service he's got over the last four years and show us all the chances he missed.

Wings? They're only the band The Beatles could have been.

Citizen does have a point.  Keane has lost the ability to find space against a team from the 2nd seeds and above.   This space is at a premium as it is and Keane does not have the ability anymore to find this space.  If he gets a chance though he will take it.  Long has the ability to find the space and create it for himself but he will more than likely miss the chance.   Catch 22 if you also want to play Hoolahan.

Personally I would start with Keane and bring on Hoolahan or possibly vice versa.

Striker are there to put the ball in the net.

Long fails to do this on a regular basis - his inability to hit the target is quite shocking.

Also you'd expect at player of his calibre to be able to kick a ball with his left foot too.

hoolahan is the one who can create a chance against a top team for keane to convert, thats a conundrum right there

Would you drop Long so, or would you drop Hoolahan back into midfield beside Mc Carthy and drop our screener,  Whelan.   How would you play it Milla.

I would go McGeady on the right and McClean on the left, but Trap will go Walters on the right and McGeady on the left

Yes McCarthy and Whelan in the middle

I think we can agree though that no matter what he does that there will be a certain cohort of people that will say he should have done the alternative.

In any 50/50 decision there is going to be a number of people who have a pop of the decision you do make and they will have valid points, as a 50/50 decision by its nature has pros and cons to it, and the valid points will be to highlight the cons of the choice Trap makes and highlight the pros of the one he didn't.

Basically damned if he does and damned if he doesn't but well paid t be damned.  Thumbs Up

estonia were a very poor team, so you missing my point. Do you think a decent team would defend as naively as that. He simply does not fit into a system that best suits the players we have.

People should be more concerned when we don't create any chances to when we miss them. For all the complete guff on here we created 5 decent chances last night.
