Steve Smith has got a face you'd just love to punch, but christ he is some player. For a long time I've always said Kohli is the best player in the world, but you could easily say it about Smith too

Third test finely balanced, I reckon it will be draw if the rain hits on Sunday!

Great partnership between Malan and Baristow and then their tail collapses as usual! Steve Smith showing again why he's the best cricketer on the planet.

pressure was off them on day 4 and they got into a good rhythm. they'd need the full 5 days to be overcast to have a chance, get that ball swinging which the aussies can't seem to play against. issue is still making runs.

If they can play every day like day 4 of this test, maybe. But that's a huge ask.

Too many average players in their side granted Ben Stokes would be a massive miss for any team.

All out in the first session of the day. Whitewash within sight

I somewhat doubt the Australian captain knew any of these facts tbh

Still have no idea why Australia didnt ask for the follow on....

History against England

  • England require their highest successful fourth-innings chase in Tests. Their previous best is 332-7 against Australia at Melbourne in 1928.
  • They also have to produce the highest successful chase at the Adelaide Oval, beating the current record of 315-6 by Australia against England in 1902.
  • If England are successful it will be the 10th highest successful fourth-innings chase in Test history.
  • Only South Africa captain Dudley Nourse against Australia in 1950 has previously lost a Test after failing to enforce the follow-on.

The session before lunch will tell and the Aussies get the new ball in another 18 overs .

Would love to know Root's thinking behind that decision.

Both he and Anderson embarrassed themselves with comments leading up to the test.

England won the toss but put Australia in to bat.
Looks like they will regret that decision.

Aussies in a strong position in the 2nd test.

Maxwell to mad to play in tests for most conservative coaches though I agree I'd have him in, its meant to be entertaining so I'd throw him in there for the craic.

Yeah, the aussies fought back well, fell asleep just before lunch so missed most of the action Ouch

Great partnership between Smyth and Marsh to get them out of trouble, I perosnally would have had Maxwell in ahead of Marsh but he has played well, Smyth showing why he's one of the best in the world.
