If the world champions are doing similar to gain an advantage (Diego Costa is committed to them through residency) then maybe countries like ourselves shouldn't turn our noses up at chances of gaining an advantage, especially as these lads have Irish blood in them.
If they are approached and they are committed to the cause then why being against it.

Now if they are approached and they say they want to see what happens with England or whoever first then I don't think that is commitment so we should walk away. Depends on each individual's circumstance

spot on ,if a player is eligible they should be contacted to see if they are interested.
Player should be asked once, if they say no or are waiting to see how things pan out with another country ,the FAI should walk away.
If MON can get 1 or 2 players in that will improve the squad and improve our chances to qualify for championships it is well worth it.

Bamford is someone they should go after now and get him capped, a naturel goalscorer.

He could switch yet.  It looks like he won't but it would be more lucrative for his career. England players get noticed quicker than Ireland players . How is his career going by the way?.

At this stage I think it's dammed if you do and dammed if you don't.  When you see strong nations like Spain taking Senna and Costa and Deco and Eduardo (scum) declaring for Portugal and Croatia then you have to keep up or you'll be cutting your nose off to spite your face  As long as there is blood relation I am happy for anyone born anywhere to play for Ireland.  My main annoyance is that guys like Keane at Man U have switched from us I don't want to see them switch back.  If you go, you go.
Jackie Charlton, Eoin Hand
Johnny Giles. Ireland
Mick McCarthy, Stephen Staunton
Cascarino
Tony Galvin, Niall Quinn
