If a respected manager like Mick McCarthy couldn't attract these type of players to us then there is less than zero chance Kenny will.

Not even about the manager IMO, they only ever declared in good numbers when there was success there, 88 to late 90s. They now look at it like a lot of work for probably f**k all reward, same as McGoldrick did and walked. Slaven / Houghton were very open about Scotland being their country in those years and many of the English born lads were probably the exact same but couldn't be as open about it.

Wales can get them at the moment, because they just played a major finals semi final and have class in a few positions, its no coincidence, same as we experienced in the Charlton years.

They want success, they aren't Irish ( most of them anyway, would not identify as Irish at all and never did)  You watch if / when we qualify for something they'll be back. Its that simple, sadly.

My point exactly, he turned England down in 2017 while having much less profile as a player, now he's a Prem goal scorer, more likely to get an England nod, but Scotland have qualified, so off he heads to Scotland. Turned down his fathers country too, Antiuga but that one Scottish grandparent ( and a major finals handily enough ) made him go all Scotty  :) :)

Dion Charles getting his first senior call-up for Northern Ireland as well. 16 goals in 30 games in League One. Strongly linked with a move to Brentford, who could be in the Premier League next season.

That is genuinely the equivalent of Scotland recruiting a left back. With Randolph and the young goalkeeping talent we have Goalkeeper is the one position I’m not remotely afraid of.

Yeah seems like the fai have been very slack on this front in recent times. Callum Robinson is the only player recently really.

They're actually proactive when it comes to getting players playing at League One level and below to declare for us. There's nothing they can do if players playing at a higher level don't want to play for Ireland short of kidnapping them and making them play for us under duress.

It's unfair to call them slack. It's not like Championship Manager.

Adams a big boost for the Scots since we last played them they have improved massively and would not easily be favourites if we played in the morning.

One of the hopes for the smaller nations is England have put huge effort into there underage set up you only have to look at their under 21 squad announced yesterday.

They all can’t go on to play for England there will be too much quality and we might pick up a few decent players this way

Might be good, I suppose. Never really heard of him, but are league one keepers going to be any better than LOI lads?

You asked if I'd be anyone from history, fact or fiction, dead or alive:
I said "I'd be Tony Cascarino, circa 1995"

Have you any examples? As far as I know similar to Robinson, Harness notified them himself that he would declare if he was wanted. Joel Bagan at cardiff was much the same through Eire guide actually who then notified the fai. Approaching the likes of Delap and others when they already have underage caps for England is already too late.

Yeah because we have goalkeepers playing week in, week out.. If you exclude Danny Rogers at Kilmarnock LOL

On the other hand Christie has played every game league or cup game this season so it makes alot of sense. Due to the ongoing injuries I wouldn't be surprised to see him straight in the team.

He's alright. He's not the answer to our goalkeeping crisis but he's reasonable cover.

It's about as much as what can be said about him.

I don't think anyone is suggesting he's Lev Yashin but he's another name to pick from which isn't a bad thing.

Jack Bonham at Gillingham is another eligible keeper currently playing every week.

I agree we are well stocked with Keepers but it's always good to have depth as Kenny eluded to in his Q&A

League 1 players are not the level of player that we need to be recruiting unless they are whizzkids.

If you want to pick solely based on league tables, there's a very good chance he will be the  goalkeeper playing at the highest available level next season
