It's not really about the number of switches. It's fine as long as the player has not played a competitive underage game for the other country - usually England. But if they have they're gone, even if they haven't switched before. So, as an example, if an English player who qualifies for Ireland through a grandparent plays even one game for England under 17s or 19s before getting Irish citizenship they can never play for Ireland. Doesn't matter if they haven't switched before. That's why Crowley hasn't been confirmed for us. He doesn't qualify.

Ridiculous rule that penalises smaller countries like all the other rules generally penalise smaller clubs. But I doubt it will come up with him surely. Amazing people are not querying the FAI and Kenny on this and actually getting this sorted out. I hope they have their eye on this stuff and have a process for getting fast citizenship from the govt too. Crucial we challenge it too in courts |

If it’s a granny job and they’ve played for England, I think that means they’re English. How desperate are you?

I think its designed more to protect than penalise smaller countries by preventing players 'upgrading' their nationality to something higher profile, more successful or more lucrative once they start making it big. You could say it was protecting the smaller country Luxembourg from us poaching him in that instance.
Different countries citizenship rules work different ways anyway so you can win or lose from it according to the circumstances. They seem to be letting us keep Robinson regardless of the rules anyway so we're hardly being persecuted.

Poor comment. Borderline xenophobic to be honest. Was that you holding that sign up at Jack Charlton's first game in 1986? You must be desperate for Joe Hodge to go home to England. And Callum Robinson too. Dual nationality is a complex thing. Not everyone is of one nationality only and is 100% sure of what it is as a teenager.

Chelsea player who was on loan with Charlton and Swansea last season.
Apparently Leeds and Bundesliga club are interester too. Has played for England at U21 level but apparently he's eligible to play for Scotland and ourselves. |

Looks very like the Scotland and Ireland links have been thrown in as back-up insurance policies in case he doesn't cut it with England. That said, I would hope that we have at least sounded him out. He looks a very talented player.

What is wrong with them honestly only FIFA would go ahead with adding more loopholes to a rule. Not one other organisation on the planet in any field of life would go out of its way to add more loopholes to a complicated rule only FIFA.

f**king hell. These FIFA bods are just making it up as they go along. Does this mean we can cap Crowley and even Johansson?
