Marcus Harness, who has apparently declared for us, scored for Portsmouth last night.

Seems a lively enough player in the highlights clip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=joU912nNt3Y

Hmmmm. I wonder why it took this League 1 player 6 or 7 years to declare for us

He is still, so young.

Harness is a right sided winger, so he’s probably got a good chance of a look in under kenny. Still our weakest area

Puns removed. Keep this thread free from incessant puns. Good thread, lets not ruin it. Thumbs Up

Knock ourselves out over in the Conor Sammon thread.

Yes this is truly the finest thread since Kevin Nolan, would be a tragedy to besmirch its greatness.

Looks like Jake Mulraney had a good debut for Atlanta this week. Lots of praise for him and Brooks Lennon as the two wingbacks.

It seems that Brooks Lennon is eligible for us and is a passport holder, having applied when on the books at Liverpool.

Anyone know if QPR's 24 year-old keeper, Liam Patrick Kelly, is eligible for us?

Capped underage for Scotland having come through the Sevco academy.  Has impressed this season and secured a first-team spot for QPR.

Rory Delaps son Liam scored the winner to put Man City into the FA Youth Cup semi finals tonight. He’s played under 17s for England. Anyone know if he’s been approached or shown any interest in playing for us?

He’s eligible alright.

Rory Delap, born in England. 11 senior caps.
Last played for Ireland in 2004.

Liam Delap, born in England in 2003. So he didn’t grow up watching his old man play for the BIG. Considering Rory only had 11 caps and Liam never saw him play for us in the flesh doesn’t help. Not making 2002 team might have stung a bit as well. Delap played club football long after he last played for Ireland....

A former Republic of Ireland under-21 international, Delap won 11 caps for the national team between 1998 and 2004. He was not included in the Irish squad for the 2002 FIFA World Cup, where the nation reached the final sixteen of the tournament. His international career was marked by a number of withdrawals, the last of which was with a twisted knee on 25 April 2004 before a midweek friendly with Poland.

Although Rory Delap was born in Sutton Coldfield to Irish parents, his family moved to Carlisle when he was just six months old. He therefore supported Carlisle United and attended matches at Brunton Park with his father. Rory's father is John Delap from Letterkenny and his mother Maura Delap from Kells. His uncle is Paddy Delap, a Letterkenny businessman, golfer, and athletics coach who runs Clarke's Newsagent's and organises an annual charity cycling event in aid of cancer noted for launching the career of former Cervélo TestTeam member Philip Deignan. Another uncle, Anthony, is an award winning actor-playwright whose works have been performed at An Grianán Theatre in the town.”

Liam Delap is only eligible for Ireland if he had an Irish passport before playing for England underage. It's the Ryan Johansson issue again.

Delap has played for England underage and if he doesn't have his Irish passport already, we can wave goodbye to him and stop the speculation.

Rory Delap must be one of our most underutilised players. More than ten seasons playing regularly in the English top flight and only two competitive appearances for Ireland to show for it.

Shows the level of quality we had in his position for most of his playing career. Unlucky not to make WC 2002 as Carr was injured.

I thought he should have been. He was playing well at the time in midfield for Southampton. Even when Keane pulled out McCarthy turned to Colin Healy, who'd only made a handful of appearances for Celtic.

John O'Shea should have been there too. He'd broken into the United team that season and would go on to be a regular the following season. A shame that he missed out on going to a World Cup.

They missed the deadline for bringing in Colin Healy and had to go with 22. You are right in that Delap didn't appear to be in the reckoning at all. Think McCarthy wanted a center mid.

He could have brought John O'Shea and probably should have brought Denis Irwin given that Harte wasn't fully fit (I know Irwin had retired from international football at that stage).

Delap's best years seemed to be the early years in the premier league with Stoke. Surprised he didn't get more action then (think this coincided with Trap's conservative selection policy).
