Newspapers making stories out of random tweets is far and away the lowest form of journalism. Can't believe there's a market for it. The express is the absolute dregs, to be fair.

Maddison will probably still play for England but I wonder if he is looking around and seeing the glut of No.10's that England currently have and will have in the future and think his chances may be limited. If he did declare for us i'd be delighted and have no complaints at all.

It would be very sweet to have out Rice'd them, and on top of it getting a quality player who is better than Grealish IMO - and I say that as a long time S/T holder at the Villa

This is embarrassing. Hes in an England squad like and blatantly wants to play for England. I want noone near or squad in that situation. Even if its Zidane

What's embarrassing? No one is seriously suggesting he'll play for Ireland. The only embarrassing thing is people like yourself attempting to make a mountain out of a mole hill.

In theory, as in the rules of the game, he is still eligible, in reality there's as much chance one of us has a shot with scarlett Johansson.
Oh God, you don't think the source of the Express story could have been us messing about on this forum? The level of journalism out there it really wouldn't surprise me |

That must have been the slowest day of the year for football stories in the Daily Express offices.
If he did switch Chris Sutton would have a coronary. He absolutely loves him and thinks the England team should be built around him.

Barkley's just scored 2 for England, Keane and Rice dropped, in a casino when he was "sick". Maddison is definitely jumping ship! 😎 😂 ☘️

The reality is u never really know how passionate someone is for the country of their roots. You could never imagine Seamus McDonagh/Gary Breen/Killer doing what Grealish did. We all have cousins across the water and some of them are so passionate about Ireland its embarrassing while others like to visit occasionally but can take it or leave it.
What I can't understand is why anyone would pick England as a career move. From a pure quality of life perspective if you are in the running for a call up to England you are probably well secure money wise, yes u will earn more if u play for England but on the basis u are already loaded why is that such a factor. Once u play with England any chance of a private life is gone! Also there is a lot of competition so one bad game and u could be gone. I'm guessing it is agents pressure. Maddison may or may not feel passionately about his nationality or he might be deciding the amount of abuse he got over his kit bag just proves its not worth the hassle playing for England. Would it even have been in the papers if he played for us?? ridiculous bag to be fair!! Also inflated transfer fees do not translate to inflated wages for the player automatically.
