  1. His name is Sean. Not even Shaun or Shawn. But not quite Seán.
  2. He has been to the Irish experience at Disneyworld.
  3. He has, at least once, tried Guinness, although he didn’t swallow.
Get him called up.

100% correct. I met him once and asked him and he confirmed this.

His wikipedia says he's eligible for Wales and Jamaica, so probably not. O'Leary on Bristol's bench is eligible though.

Interesting.

O'Leary is 21 and has never played underage for England. I wonder are the FAI aware?

LOL

I’m sure people just look at names going across the screen on SkySports and think on a scale of John Smith to Patrick how Irish is that name

Literally exactly why I asked about that Kelly lad.

I'd say it's probably how the FAI do it too, lazy shower that they are.

I doubt there's another country in the world where speculating about a players background based on their surname is so controversial. Irish surnames typically mean Irish links, in the same way as German surnames usually indicate German links, Chinese surnames suggest Chinese ancestry, etc etc. The question is whether the link is recent enough, hence why a poster might ask to see if anyone has the answer. No need to get your knickers in a twist about it.

Clap We're not alone in this either. Turkish fans regularly speculate about members of their diaspora playing in Germany, Holland, Belgium and Scandinavia - virtually identical conversations to the ones we're having, in every respect. "His Da wants him to play for.." "He used to holiday here every summer..." "His Granny made him promise ..." LOL

Ally Roy qualifies for the Nordies via a grandfather from Strabane. Would guess he’d have been interested in us before getting his call up:

You asked if I'd be anyone from history, fact or fiction, dead or alive:
I said "I'd be Tony Cascarino, circa 1995"

I doubt it given that the IFA weren't aware of his eligibility until he contacted them and i'm pretty sure he is a Rangers supporter as well. Not that it will matter as i doubt he ever be good enough for either national team.
