Apoel play their last friendly today before season starts next weekend. No sign of Byrne. Must be the seventh friendly in a row that Jack Byrne hasn't started a game. He's played a few halves of football but he didn't feature at all in their last friendly.
I know it's pre season but you have to imagine that Byrne would be starting more games than not if he was considered somebody part of the first 11.

Its pre season ffs. Teams are going to try different things and rotate players. I have no concerns Byrne is going to get chances and have a very good season this year at APOEL. Lad has unreal ability and will be playing in a league where he can show it.

Injured? Didnt play in their last friendly either, as in he wasnt even in the squad. Had played 45 mins in 5 or 6 games up to that point.

Hasn't played in their last couple of games according livescore, etc. Don't think he's injured, as saw pics of him training with squad earlier in the week. Might be something brewing.

Byrne is fit but out of favour with APOEL plus they're keen to move him according to local reports there.

Hasn't had a chance to make a name for himself at all outside of Ireland, so a return to the LoI must be a possibility if it is true that they want to move him on. Mind you they change managers so often that he might get back in before long.
Lack of contribution off the ball will limit his prospects wherever he goes I think. Would prefer if he doesn't go to Cardiff, he wouldn't get much of a look in there I'd say, don't think he's suited to the Championship at all.

Only good thing about going to Cardiff is Mick knows what he's getting. He brought him to Cyprus for a reason. He knows not to expect him chasing down opposition for 90.minutes. Would love him to go back to Dutch league. Pig in sh!te there.

No, was on the phone to Georgy Samaras there and he knows the guy who works at the petrol station beside APOELs training ground and who fills Jack Byrnes car up for him on Tuesday nights.

He has some well dodgy luck. He can take the blame for earlier in his career, but it's hard not to feel for him if things go tits up here given how he redeemed himself at Rovers.

Unless I read the wrong report Apoel we’re beaten 4-0 today so they didn’t do great without him . Feel sorry for Jack if he doesn’t get a decent chance there. Manager will probably be sacked if they have one or two more bad results

A lot of “making it” is down to luck. Hopefully he gets a break after this stint in Cyprus if it doesn’t work out. He’s running out of time
