David Vaughan had him in his pocket too recently. He has overperformed on a couple of occasions for us and deserves respect for that, but he is a very average Championship player.

Eh, How does Meyler not scream leader on inspiring? Meyler was the only one holding the team together until he went off.

Count the amount of times the armband was passed around afterwards, the local brothel for €20 doesn't get passed around as much as that poor armband did until Clark gave in and took it, it was embarrassing stuff

Very harsh comments here.

He had a bad night . Probably his first bad game all campaign to be honest . That said he was put on the right side of a diamond. What was that all about ? We should have started as a 4-2-3-1 with Arter and himself as the two. Square pegs for round holes all over with the diamond formation. DM is a good player and a decent fella. The same lads slaughtering him for a bit of fighting talk will be the same ones who give out for us not having any balls or confidence or playing the poor little Paddy card going into big games.
l hear you are a racist now, father ?

Spot on.

Meyler has always done well for us even when he had to fill in at right back.

Ward too has been another player who has done well for the last few years for us and unfortunately made a costly basic mistake last night

The players must be devastated Cry and any team can have a bad night. It's been a bad year despite the heroics in Cardiff.

To say Meyler was 'found out' last night is very harsh. Not his beat game but christ he wasn't that bad.

I thought the decision to take him off was scandoulus. There were a lot worse than him on the pitch last night and were left on.

Is it? He was piss-poor, and I'm a fan of his. He did his talking off the field, and that was that, unfortunately.

MO’N’s tactics were brutal which left him exposed. More limited players, which we’ve a for few of, are going to get really exposed when you start messing with the system.

Denmark weren’t some brilliant side but they were well set-up and comfortable on the ball. Picked us, Meyler, Arter, Brady and Hendrick apart easily.

Eh because he’s an average footballer who’s had an average club career and no stand out experience of leading a team of any note

He screams leader to you?
What like Bobby Moore, Roy Keane?

So because his club history isn't great he makes a poor captain? If we're going by that logic then Glenn Whelan would be ahead in the picking order who's about as inspirational as Mr. Methane.

He screamed leader to me when he bossed that Welsh midfield about, he had a bad game, big deal move on. The only problem with him is that he made it worse for himself by gobbing off before the game.

So he screamed leader to you as he had one good game?

As someone else said, he went from being a fringe player and substitute to captain after one good performance. He’s hardly a stand out well renowned leader. There are no leaders in the team as is the point we’re making, and as last night proved

It wasn't one good performance though. It was multiple spread across months and it's actually a critical part of how Ireland want to play because it's a Midfielder who wants to actually tackle and retain the ball - I know it's an absolute rarity to ask for such a simple task but Meyler is that person

He's a good championship player, he'll have no issues getting another club. He'd even do a decent job for one of the promoted sides if they were so inclined.
