Reading 1923 by Mark Jones at the min, documenting the year running up to Hitler's failed coup. I had absolutely no idea the extent of the French occupation of the Ruhr that year, it's mad stuff in supposed peacetime

+1 well worth it just for Alan Partridge: From the Oasthouse

The bit about his mothers imagining of the sexual activities between Sherlock Holmes and Watson was hilarious.

Just read ‘ The Paper Man’ by an Irish Author Billy O’ Callaghan about an Austrian footballer who played for the Wunderteam in the 1930’s. He refused to play for Germany after they annexed Austria. Really good read. Had never heard of this guy. Seemed he was a 1930’s Messi type of player.

Not a bad book. He loves himself though.

He has come a long way from posting on ybig and getting pick pocketed in Barcelona

There are massive gaps in the timeline though but that can be expected with the lack of activity after Bobby's playing days and Jack managing us. 7/10.

Gaffs - Rory Hearne.

Timeline of how the housing crisis has been created and developed. The detail from roughly 2005 - 2020 and how it has lead to the current crisis is excellent. It's slightly repetitive in places but that's to be expected. 8/10.

Good writer Jonathan Wilson thanks for the heads up I may well get this.

I'm currently reading this its quality.

Lee Brilleaux: Rock'n'Roll Gentleman

Lee Brilleaux, the uniquely charismatic star of proto-punk R&B reprobates Dr Feelgood, was one of rock'n'roll's greatest frontmen. But he was also one of its greatest gentlemen - a class act with heart, fire, wanderlust and a wild streak. Exploding out of Canvey Island in the early 1970s - an age of glam rock, post-hippy folk and pop androgyny - the Feelgoods, with Lee Brilleaux and Wilko Johnson at the helm, charged into London, grabbed the pub rock scene by the throat and sparked a revolutionary new era, proving that you didn't have to be middle class, wearing the 'right clothes' or living in the 'right place' to succeed.
Lee Brilleaux: Rock'n'Roll Gentleman, while a totally different work, is a companion of sorts to the hugely popular Wilko Johnson book: Looking Back At Me (also co-authored by Howe). It is the first comprehensive appreciation of Lee Brilleaux and, with its numerous exclusive interviews and previously unseen images, is a book no Dr Feelgood fan would wish to be without.

Yeah she encouraged his writing. Met him at the Dublin Crime writers festival last year in Dun Laoghaire. Sound lad.

I’ve only read one of Cavanagh’s books ( “Twisted”) but it was a clever and enjoyable piece of work. Interesting character, he was a very good lawyer before he became a full time writer and worked as a bouncer once as well.. His real name is Stephen Mearns, Cavanagh was his mother’s maiden name.
