just over 20 years since winning the cup. some greedy f*ckers have a lot to answer for in the running of coventry. as said, selling a ground then renting a new one, and the proceeds slipping out of the club. watch out west ham.............

The Coventry Telegraph has done a petition to stop Coventry leaving the Coventry area. It seems that most fans are keen on a boycott which might mean that they will head to league 2. It seems mad that they ever left Highfield Road, the place was nearly in the city centre, the Ricoh is on the outskirts. It's terrible that it's happening to so many clubs, moving good location stadiums that are next to pubs and shops out into the middle of nowhere.

Just wondering how ricoh feel about having their name attached to a white elephant stadium. Not exactly good publicity for their brand

Met up with the coventry boys I know on Saturday. Got a bus down for their second club's friedly. They are all boycotting this season and are just travelling away. Will meet them for a few trips around the south. Very sad to see though

Yeah, was reading their deal at the ricoh was extortionate, but owners seem like a right bunch of clowns. Feel sorry for fans, club in a desperate mess

West Ham would do well to look at this. Club's selling their stadiums are renting elsewhere are shooting themselves in the foot.

What's to say Gold and Sullivan wont sell Upton Park, pocket the money and fook off? West Ham will be left with on fixed asset and a bit bill every year for renting the Olympic Stadium.

they are only renting it. Costs them i think 2million a year in rent

they have contributed a whopping 15 million to the bill to convert it to a football stadium

the sex toy peddling midget, the horrible tramp brady and the wookie have got them a great deal.

Poor Coventry. Another club with a bit of history gone.

From the sounds of it the club tried to play hardball this week and appear to have lost.

The council (a creditor) reduced the rent of the Ricoh from over £1m to between £100k - £400k depending on what division they were in. Agreeing to the reduction in rent would have meant the club would have come out of administration. The club appears not to have accepted it and are about to go into liquidation.

It is an awful situation, no football club should should be owned by a hedge fund. People give out about the FAI and their lack of care for the LoI sides, the FA are equally as irresponsible. How many clubs must go into administration or be owned by 'fair and proper' owners before they realise?
