Also how people are calling Cas for football legend is beyond me

Scholes /Giggs ??

Yeah both world class players and definitely both club legends, but there is something they're both missing to put them into the world legend status, I think it comes down to personality, I know it probably shouldn't, but it does in my eyes, Best, Keane, Cantona, Maradonna, etc all had that self destruct button which I think makes most fans secretly like them more, if ya get me.
Skewed thinking I know, but it somehow works for me

Legends well they cause you to react -

I would agree with you jack - I think Robbie Fowler is a liverpool legend - on many levels - he had guts - character - snorting the line - classic stuff

Love em or hate em - characters are vital -

Messi does it all with the ball - he can humiliate players with pure skill -

Zidane would be a legend anyway, his only problem was he couldnt take a joke about his sister. A real class player, one of my favorites. I think legend should only apply to players the whole football world admires. Gary Neville would only be a legend to Man Utd fans

Ya to clarify it I think a legend is someone admired the world over.
There aren't a huge pile of them around. Zidane certainly a legend, he was the player of his generation. Juve had another prior to his arrival in del-piero.

In fairness lads its as much about having the "world star factor" as it is lasting at the top level for so long.

Keane , Giggs , Neville and Scholes are not just Man United legends but EPL legends , no-way could you leave any of those 4 out when your defining legends in the English game.

Le Tissier has to win any of these competitions hands down. The definition of legend. One club man but a total Dilettante, loved by all, not just fans of his opponents, but his actual opponents. A joy to watch, a lazy bollocks, but absolutely forgivably so.

Yes clearly adding Tony to the same bracket as Maldini & Maradonna was a joke. It's all about opinions you see, but one thing I will never accept is lads calling Gerrard a legend. Absolute rubbish, he's not even a legend in Liverpool compared to Rush or Hanson. Gerrard had been the captain of Liverpool during probably the worst period in the clubs history. One poxy/fluked champions league win does not make Gerrard a legend. As for lads calling Jamie Carragher a legend? Biggest joke I've ever heard!

It's a fact that Gerrard was out the door about 6 years ago only Chelsea weren't prepared to pay extortionate amounts of money for a ridiculously overrated player so he stayed put citing reasons such as "I'm a one man team" & "I'm here to win big trophies with liverpool"....as eamonn dunphy famously said -

"Steven Gerrard is a nothing player"

There are so many parts of the above post I strongly disagree with that I'm not going to respond to each part specifically.
On top of that its also factually wrong, but sure don't let that bother ya.

The brother in law is from Liverpool & he told me the story about Gerrard & Chelsea, he despises him ever since. I'd have no reason to make it up & for the brother in law, being an absolute die hard Liverpool fan, to still dislike Gerrard to this day is enough for me to believe it.

You don't agree with the other parts of the post no worries, everyone is entitled to their opinion & not everyone is going to agree its what makes threads like these entertaining.
