Was a decent enough card. Most fights enjoyable, still wouldn’t have paid €25 for it mind

Interesting comments from Michael Martin. Won't be a big boxing event any time soon because they are too risky according to the guards.
Pretty sure boxing events in London and New York, etc. would also attract gangs. Crazy in my opinion that it is a complete NO. Makes our police force and security readiness look very weak if they cannot entertain the hosting of a big boxing event

It felt like Martin was playing to the crowd with little actual knowledge on the topic. There have been televised pro-boxing shows in Ireland in the past couple of years but the reason they seem to have stopped is the rising cost of insurance due to Brexit.

Looking forward to the fight early tomorrow morning, think BJS will stand his ground well, the problem is that;
He's fighting Canelo, in Texas, on the weekend of Cinco De Mayo. Canelo could sit in his corner for 12 rounds and still get a decision win. 6/4 for a Canelo decision win I've gone for.

Can't see Saunders knocking Canelo out and like you said can't see him getting a decision.
Think it will be a good tactical fight but also think Canelo by UD

Don't see it being an entertaining fight. It'll be interesting to see how Canelo handles it though, as he's usually an aggressive counter puncher, but Saunders won't be coming towards him.

He has to. Which makes the fight interesting, 70,000 people in the AT&T Stadium on this weekend of all weekends, they may aswell be in the streets of Mexico City because he's getting absolutely nothing his way once the bell rings. As Randy said he's not a big puncher, so how does he win? That's why Canelo 1/6.. It's close to an impossible job. Canelo doesn't tire either as he's fond of the good ol contaminated Mexican meat, I would of put money on a late stoppage but Evens doesn't seem like a good price for it.

Didn't disgrace himself.
Started nervy as hell only jabbing and moving back for 4 rounds, won the next 2 rounds then started getting confident only to be stopped have his orbital bone broken. There was no way he could continue

Had it 5-3 to Canelo when it was stopped.
Karma came back to haunt him given his comments after Daniel Dubois's defeat to Joe Joyce. A complete and utter sh*tbag.

Fury v Joshua looking to be off unless they give Wilder a huge wad of cash to stand down.
Judge ruled that Fury was in breach of his contract not giving Wilder a rematch and must give him one by September. Neither party interested in a fight when there's a belt missing to be contested. To complicate things further, WBC gave Joshua a special exemption to overrule his #1 mandatory defence against Usyk in favour of the Fury fight, which is no longer happening. Hearn looked sick as a chip talking about it, almost resigned to the fact the Saudi fight is never happening. I do think Usyk would give a boxing schooling which would put an end to it.

This will easily be solved - They will pay Wilder to wait. AJ will fight Fury next.

So easy dealing with someone who took his case to the Court of Arbitration?! Hearn's already in contact with Usyk, which is a big suggestion that he knows the fight isn't happening. |

So, this didn't go to the court of arbitration - It went through a legal process in the states which determined that contractually Fury was obligated for a third fight. If Fury agrees a financial settlement with Wilder to step aside and a new legal agreement is signed by both parties that overrides that contractual obligation to fight by the end of September then this is all sorted. And given that there is approx 200mill on the line for Fury v AJ, you can be well sure that Wilder will agree to take a nice chunk to step aside. On Usyk, he is the mandatory challenger for the WBO title and an agreement is already in place for him to stand aside and he will be fighting Joyce for the interim title in the meantime. Nothing changes with this situation. And Usyk is signed to Matchroom. As I said, I'm sure Fury and AJ goes ahead in August.

You're making it sound like paying Wilder off will be a simple process.
The same man who claimed his walk-in suit was too heavy The same man who claimed gloves were tampered with The same man who claimed his own head coach spiked his own water. Bob Arum is also the tightest man on the planet. Who's already said he'd rather rid of Wilder once all for all - Alliegiant Arena in Vegas for July 24th has already been reserved.

It will be a simple process. He could make $5 mill by losing to Fury again or $10 mill by not fighting him.

You're suggesting that Bob Arum would pay someone
Anyhow, looking like the Trilogy's booked for July

It won't be on Arum to fork out here - It will be on everyone to fork out here. If they (AJ, Fury, Arum, Matchroom etc etc) all have to find $10 mill to make a $200 mill fight happen then it's a bit of a no-brainer. Edited by Borussia - 18 May 2021 at 4:11pm |
