Strange choice, especially as he will miss half the season injured.
Big smile Apparently Woodgate doesn't get involved on the training pitch!

Woodgate is away out for a curry to celebrate getting the job tonight. He was overheard saying “I could murder an Indian”

woodgate? can't see that ending well. and i see robbie keane linked with a role there possibly although that could be just putting 2+2 together as he played with him at spurs. it would be a surprise move by boro appointing him as manager you would think.

And 24 hours later, it's "As you were"...

If I had to guess, I'd say the owner realised CAFC were a more saleable proposition with Bowyer in place than without, so caved in to keep him.

I've no time for Bowyer personally (a scumbag), but if he's managed to put one over Duchalet (another scumbag), then maybe he's got something going for him?

Would Hughton accept the job if offered?

Brum are beyond skint:
https://twitter.com/swissramble/status/1082915639247933440?lang=en-gb

Surely CH's stock should still be high enough to attract better offers?

Meanwhile, the latest local gossip is that Brum are going to appoint a little-known manager, Xavier Calm, whose last job was with UE Cornella in the Spanish 3rd Division, which I suspect is little better than part-time (UEC's stadium capacity is 1,500 apparently):
https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/birmingham-city-next-manager-odds-16449965

I can think of only two reasons why Brum might consider s.o. like Calm. Either he's the next Guardiola and the rest of Spain hasn't noticed.

Or, he's prepared to work for the minimum wage, on a zero-hours contract.

(I know which my money's on Wink).

Meanwhile, the local press must surely be hoping he gets it, since if ("when"?) Brum get relegated, then the next day's headlines will write themselves!

Starts this weekend.

Has to be one of the best leagues for fans.

Very difficult to predict the winners.
More than 1/2 the teams could win promotion.
More than 1/2 the teams could face relegation.
Tickets for most games are available (not cheap but you don’t get the tourist fans).
The football is a high standard.

I hope Leeds win it this season. Be great to see Bielsa in the prem.

I hope Stoke and the Baggies go up this season. Not too fussed about the third team as long as it's not Leeds!

This evening, actually:

Anyone thinking of placing a bet on the Division better not leave it until tomorrow morning.

Which reminds me...

While there is still an element of that, it is getting more and more predictable. You are getting close to an EPL and a third scenario. Thankfully there are enough mismanaged clubs to still make football interesting!
