Good solid end to the series. The final third, sleep therapy/ breathalyzer sections being the strongest as with so many of the episodes. The episode suffered from Simon filling in for Jenny after the first 5 minutes. I'd be surprised if the Simon character makes the next series no matter where it's set. The most memorable moments made it the best thing on BBC for a while.

Would agree to an extent. The chat show format was very good in parts, but too unrealistic generally. I'm Alan Partridge was the best ever.

Started watching Knowing me Knowing You the other day and must say the tone of comedy has changed.
KMKY was a laugh a minute whereas this and Mid Morning Matters is more hit and miss. It's probably to be expected after 20+ years with the same character. My top Partridge is 1. KMKY 2. Season 2 of his Alan Partridge series 3. Season 1 4. Da Rest

I didn't particularly enjoy the rest of the segment but "another one bites the dust" was very good. It was the wrong side of cringe but that line was hilarious.

It shows how subjective comedy is, I was ready to turn it off during that. I thought it was very unoriginal comedy from Coogan, it must still work though.

Monday's was Partridge/Coogan at his best, apart from the brilliant ballad stuff at the end, his CPR demo had me in stitches. Best of the four episodes by a mile, the end though is the stuff of comedy legend.

It's been a patchy series but the last 10 minutes of episode 3 and 4 were better than anything else in a comedy show in many years.

Between this, Michael Conlan's entrance music and it being Paddy's weekend id say they've been having a meltdown

Eamonn Dunphy:"I'll tell you who wrote it, Rod Liddle, he's the guy who ran away and left his wife for a young one".
Bill O'Herlihy: Ah ye can't be saying that now Eamonn |
