That Hudson Odoi young lad looks very good, not surprised the Chelsea fans were so pissed he wasn't getting more game time.

If the transfer ban remains then Lamps should get it. With Hazard leaving it could be a difficult few seasons for Chelsea. A lot of investment required to get back challenging for the league.

I find this potential deal interesting.
Lampard hardly did a remarkable job at Derby. Since 2014 they have regularly made the Top 6, and Lampard continued that, but was unable to get them promoted. However, given the embargo, and his approach to Chelsea’s youth teams, signing Mount and chasing Ampadu, he might be best placed to utilise the full remit of their squad.

Unremarkable if you look solely at results. More significant is that he immediately put his own stamp on the club and got them playing the way he wanted, which imo is remarkable, when you consider how much turmoil they were in when he took over and it was his first managerial job. The problem being that his own chosen "stamp" was a particularly nasty, cheating, confrontational one, which might have got results, but didn't get many friends. I wonder where he learnt that?
I suspect that Lampard will give them that, all right. The tramp.

Skinny Frank is going to have to do some job to get them into the Top 4, playing nice football and a half decent run in the Champions League (knock outs minimum).
He won't be treated to the abuse that 'whaz Sarri no bout the prem league mate'got, and will be given some time to try and get it right

They've lost Hazard and can't sign anyone. Lampard would be greatly exceeding expectations if he can get them to a top four finish.
As Het-field points out his knowledge of the Chelsea youth team players means the club might finally actually start playing some of their promising youngsters. It will definitely be interesting to see how they get on next season.

Past experience show that Chelsea managers have to perform every single season, else they're out. But because of their present circumstances (transfer ban, Hazard leaving, City & L'pool charging on), and also who Lampard is, he'll probably get a season's grace (or two seasons, tops). But that's all. I hope he dies on his arse, and takes the whole feckin lot with him but sadly, I fear he'll do enough to at least tide them over their present difficulties. |
