Why can ''we'' as the Irish fans not create the same atmosphere at the home games as we do at the away games???

I like many other fans was in Poland and the atmosphere was amazing... not just for games, even during days where there were no games. Of course this is a tournament and will create a great buzz all around the place.... does anyone else think it would be a good idea to meet in a public square like in Poland before games to create a bit of an atmosphere before the home game kicks off?
I for one would be in favour of this idea Smile

People are on holidays with no work the next day, are pumped up and are on the piss with lots of Euro/Zloty in their pockets. You cant recreate that on a Wednesday night in the rain after coming from work and having to be up for work the next day. Simple as!

People can, but they don't bother. If we played England on any Wednesday night of the year, rain, sun, or snow, work or no work, there would be an atmosphere.

Think the fans need something to watch to create an atmosphere. It's really frustrating at times being an Ireland fan; the football being played can be hard to watch.

Moose pretty much sums it up. Same in every football match worldwide, away fans are more vocal.

And more often then not there are begrudgers around telling fans to sit down blah blah, and a group of 1000 or more locked supporters would not be tolerated by the Gardai and there would be knacker scrotes trying to join in and causing mayhem, people also tend to behave differently when they are away!

everybody was drunk, and if there wasnt an atmosphere at a tournament when would there be one, if we were playing attacking football with our good young players in the team there would be a better atmosphere for sure.

The atmosphere is always tense because we play boring and negative football....so even when we get ahead the crowd are nearly waiting for as to mess up...pity really....best atmosphere for games that I've went to was during Mick Mcs time in charge.

Bar a Few games (usually the big ones) the atmosphere in Lansdowne is usually crap. The SS is a great Inititive as it means fans who want to make noise, sing, stand and have the craic are together.

A lot of the negativity from the 'supporters' in other sections of the ground is really annoying. You'd swear some are there through some sort of ordered penance.

The travelling support at games are generally fans who want to enjoy themselves and in the most are regular attendees who support the team through thick and thin.

The supporters at tournaments are a mixture of away game supporters and those just there for the craic.

Where do people generally go for a few pints before a match in the Aviva?

If there was an area of town where people from the SS met up would it create an atmosphere before the match that others would hear about and want to get involved in?

Far from it Confused

Play attacking football with young an inexperienced players against the likes of Italy , Croatia and Spain the score line's would have been double what we lost by!

There are serious problems with the home support. The starting point is how to fill the stadium. Let's face it, the season tickets do not work. People do not want to pay up front for 3 competitive games and a few friendlies. It was only a few years ago that we had thousands on the waiting list for tickets and now we have thousands of empty seats. The FAI fooked so many people over with the whole Vantage Club fiasco that we lost a huge amount of regular match goers. Delaney should have been sacked for this alone.  The FAI should be down on their hands and knees getting the supporters into the stadium. The fact that they raised the ST prices again without even bothering to inform the supporters or deal with concerns says it all. I renewed my ST but it fookin pains me to give money to those c**ts after being screwed so many times for away games etc.
