income tax, VAT, capital gains tax, motor tax, DIRT tax all up
hitting people on lowest incomes more than he should have..the richer people of Ireland should be contributed more..the taxes he raised are hitting everyone..which will hit poorer people harder than the rich..

thank god for that..
what's this about Car Park Levy of €200 ayear though
Finance Minister Brian Lenihan said that as part of the Government's overall programme to support a sustainable environment, he will introduce a flat rate levy in the major urban areas of €200 where an employer provides car parking facilities for workers...
It then goes onto say -
Mr Lenihan said that demand for local government services is increasing all the time and he added that it is important that these authorities can operate on a sustainable financial basis.
To this end, he said that he is introducing a charge on all non-principle private residences - or second homes. It will be levied and collected by local authorities and will be used to support the provision of local services.
The new charge will be set at €200 per dwelling and will come into effect in 2009. Owners of private rented accommodation, holiday homes and other non-principle residents will have to pay the new charge.

for non 1st time buyers down from 20% to 15%..
i reckon that levy ur on about JS is that is a company provides staff with a company car space than the government charge the company €200 a year to increase numbers using public transport/cycling to work..
the other €200 levy is for people who own a gaf that is not the gaf that they live in (holiday home, rented house etc)..so he's targeting people who own more than 1 gaf which is fine by me..

The Minister said he wanted to encourage greater use of electronic payments by halving the stamp duty on ATM cards to €5. But stamp duty on cheques goes up from 30 cent to 50 cent.
Deadly saving a fiver here

But the people who own the second gaf and are renting it out will add the 200 quid onto the bill. So an extra 5 quid a week they'll probably charge and say it's for the parking tax

That won't go down well with the tenants ..fookin' ridiculous that you should have to pay to park in your own driveway. What next a bedroom tax for sleeping ?

Betting tax is to be increased from 1% to 2%, which should yield €40m in a full year.
Most places like Paddy Power will hopefully not make the punter pay. No doubt the small bookies will be looking for it though. They did in my local when it was 3%

the €200 on a 2nd home has nothing 2 do with a parking space though..its a tax to hit those with more than 1 house..the parking space is completely different and relates to companies providing employees with a parking space in work..
but yeah fully agree..tenants will foot the bill id imagine..the landlords will just up rents..
