Traumazone produced by BBC Factual (I'm watching it on social media) is a chronological account of the seismic changes in Russia from 1986 to 1999, from the collapse of Communism to its move democracy. No commentary but a montage of different recordings over the period featuring a series of vignettes featuring an array of people coping with the changes. Brilliant format. If you are interested in getting some understanding of Russia in 2022, its well worth watching. 7 episodes of about 55 mins.

Adam Curtis is a brilliant film maker. Posted about this on the Ukrainian war thread and linked one of his previous films from 2007 that touched on that called The Trap in that thread.

Would recommend going his back catalogue, the likes of The Power of Nightmares, The Century of the Self and All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Grace are quality.

I've finished  the series earlier in the week. Excellent. Putin makes a brief appearance in final episode. The Yeltsin years were crazy, akin to the gold rush in the wild west. One clip stands out for me is where scavengers are digging up ww2 battlefields searching for corpses of German soldiers that might have anything of value on them, such was the despiration and poverty.
I must check out The Trap..

There you go.

Spanish subs hardcoded on YouTube but it's available without on the likes of Daily Motion if they're annoying you.

Stumbled across 'Candy' on Hulu/Disney. Really good show.

Great for married couples!

I watched this over the last 2 days - not bad. I thought the last episode was a bit meh.

Yeah probably started off better than finished but still a good show to sink teeth into, only 5 episodes too

Yeah watched it over the weekend myself, decent enough but probably could have been a 3 or 4 parter. Needlessly dragged out and kind of just trails off, ending was very meh.

Didn't cop your man was Justin Timberlake until near the end either.

The missus called that one to me as well I wouldn't have copped it  actually felt he was a bit of a miscast though

Hes married to Jessica Biel so was prob shoehorned into the cast for the sake of it

Oh that is for sure what happened!

Jessica Biel couldn't hide her beauty in show despite the hair and glasses and lack of makeup.

She was obviously using a body double in one scene where she showed a bit of side boob. In another scene it showed her cups are not that big.

"From" looks promising. Creepy mystery.

Pretty scary at times too. Watched a couple now and definitely recommend

Watched the first episode of The Walk In. Focuses on the rise of the far right in the UK against the backdrop of Brexit, with the murder of Jo Cox occurring in the first episode. Seems worth sticking with.

I started watching this and I'm really not sure what to make of it. I'll persevere through it, since the episodes are only 30m long.

FOGRA - 3 part documentary about Italia 90 tonight on C4 at 9 bells. Probably nothing new in it that wasn't already covered in One Night in Turin or Kevin Allen's World Cup Diary. No doubt another chance to see Colin Moynihan in all his glory.

A few shows watched lately:

Westworld. Finished off season 4 (the last season). Overall I thought the series was about an 8/10. There were some episodes that were 10/10 along the way. Could be hard to follow at times and especially as its been years and hard to remember things from the first season that were referenced to a lot this season. But the YouTube recaps after every episode are really useful for that.

Killer Sally. Most probably will end up watching this on Netflix. Well made, interesting story. Watched it in one sitting.

Top recommendation: Low Country: The Murdaugh Dynasty. 3 part mini series from HBO. About a rich family of solicitors in a county in South carolina who have a lot of power and a wife and son end up shot and the whole story around that with multiple side stories about the family. But a really top watch. Plenty of WTF and oh my god moments

I'd say Dougherty is Murdaugh's big antagonist in that show.

Enjoyed Westworld but found it borderline impossible to follow last couple of seasons in particular. The best episode across the four seasons as,, stand alone was Kiksuya, the one towards the end of season 2 that told the back story of the Native American character played by Zahn McClarnon, absolutely brilliant television.

The makers of Westworld have a new show on Amazon called The Peripheral, three episodes in, excellent so far.

Yeah the first two seasons were really the best and I remember that episode was class alright.
Last two seasons not as good and very confusing but as mentioned, i would recap after each episode on youtube and it really helped.

I've got the Peripheral on top my watchlist too. I'm letting it build up though. Kind of prefer to be able to watch it all together versus waiting to watch it week to week.

City on a Hill, season three. Slower to get going but a great finish. Still has some has in the tank.

Das boot: more tangential than first two seasons, but well produced and very binge worthy.

Westworld has been cancelled unfortunately.

Haven't had a chance to watch any of the new season since having a kid but S3 was a bit confusing alright.

You should still watch S4 because it ended in a way where you could have considered it as a final ending as well. I reckon the creators did it like they did just in case.

There is a petition for it to come back as you could also see where they could keep running with it

Three episodes into Dahmer. I'm expecting the director to have a camera shot go up Dahmer's hole in the last episode. It's drawn out serial killer porn
It would damage this forums' reputation
