Ah right. I didn't know that, but my interest in such things is minimal. I know locally that Bonner does take the training, but his job title may be head coach. Is it thag the difference between a manager and a head coach then? Is a manager actually needed at all then?

Taking Klopp as an example and given that he's the Manager of Liverpool, he has a say in everything i.e. training sessions, transfers, training ground developments etc whereas your stereotypical Head Coach is tasked with just footballing matters i.e. picking the team, running training sessions etc but may not have any say in who is signed (to a point) or infrastructure changes to the training ground or what have you.

Bonner at Cambridge probably only has a small backroom team to work with it like many clubs, so between 4 or 5 of them (assuming) they will all do numerous jobs amongst eachother to cut costs and save money.

I mean Liverpool have a specialist throw in coach ffs LOL

2 Milan players and 3 staff members test positive for COVID

Opponents get it after they play Celtic

Sevco opponents get it before they play them.

That makes sense, although U's have often had a larger than needed backroom. Bonner wanted it trimmed. Whatever he is doing it's working! I guess it makes sense for smaller clubs to have an overall manager who deals with the non-football side and leave the coach work with the players.

With Gerrard though, as opposed to Klopp, it seems he is little more than head cheerleader and a name that placated fans. Either way, it is working there too.

I think in all cases now, for better or worse, there needs to be a system at clubs and all the irritating buzzwords and terminology that comes with it. Players seem to expect. It seems that managers make players now rather than the other way around. That's what Rangers have, while Lennon still seems to be going with the MON/Clough approach of individual ability.

You know yourself, too many chefs spoil a broth and all that lark! I could imagine that working in a smaller and tight knit group as a management team means there's direct communication all the time which can only be a good thing.

Oh I have absolutely no doubt that it's Beale (he's a genius) that's the main reason in Rangers up turn in fortunes and why we're seeing some of their players genuinely improve as footballers. Brendan Rodgers is cut from that same cloth in that regard and he was always a coach first and foremost.

Given that Gerrard has little to no coaching experience, I would be fairly certain that he wouldn't have the tools to actually coach players from back to front and improve them. Perhaps bar central midfielders because that was relative to this playing career.

Just the 7 penalties in 12 games so far, game isn't over yet though

If only opposite teams would stop making fouls in the box.
