Can't see it being McInnes , they completely ruined him when Derek knocked them back a few years ago for not letting him bring his Fenian assistant/his own coaching team The orc fans wouldn't accept a sacked Aberdeen manager either Can see them going for a Lampard/De Boer/Van Bronkhorst/Gattuso type but dunno how they can afford him or give him a transfer budget Slippy knows the money (and he spent a helluva lot, has run out) money they never had in the first place |

Looks like they've targeted Russell Martin, Swansea boss - ex sevco loan player as Slippy's replacement going by reports

Good luck to Steven Gerrard at Aston Villa. He was great for Scottish football and raised its profile. He will be a big loss to Rangers. Stopping Celtic winning 10 was a big deal but Callum Davidson did win more trophies than him over the time… who will Rangers turn to?? |

Hughton would take that job if he was offered it.

Another manager leaving one of the SPL's big two, mid season to take a PL job. Maybe proof of just how poor Scottish Club football is at the moment that jobs like Leicester and Villa would induce managers away.

Not surprised to be honest. More of a remark. It will be a big test.

Massive test for Gerrard, he’s proved very little so far, just like the LOI if you spend the most money you’ll more than likely win the league. It doesn’t work that way in the Premier League

Totally agree. When you get one of the top two jobs in Scotland, you tend to be automatically in the title race, probably have European football secured, and money and cache to sign players that are generally better.
I’m expect Gerrard to bring no more than his people from Rangers in a coaching capacity. Would he actually improve Villa by bringing any of the current rangers squad with him? I really doubt it.

Good for Liverpool that he is getting a taste in the PL given he is the obviously successor to Klopp whenever Klopp decides to go back to Germany. Would be more of a question mark on his ability to manage at the top level if Klopp was to leave and Gerrard still at Rangers.

I find this automatic anointing very funny. Bryan Robson and Steve Bruce had good managerial careers, better than Gerrard's but they were nowhere near the Man U job when Ferguson left. Liverpool is a business, run by realists, who had no problem sacking Dalglish in the past for example. Gerrard would have to have taken Villa into the Champions League and won some silverware before he is considered for the job I feel.
