They didn't play Sloop John B, they played a song to the tune of Sloop John B called 'Four Men had a Dream' about the formation of the original Rangers in 1872. You could clearly hear the lyrics. Fans of many clubs used a similar lyric structure to the same tune. Cambridge United had 'Derry had a Dream', which was apt as he seemed to be asleep most of the time. The full lyrics are : Four men had a dream To start a football team They had no money, no strips not even a ball But still they go on And The Rangers were born 55 titles later We still follow on Edited by pre Madonna - 19 Apr 2021 at 1:13pm |

We all know about the Famine Song. We know it is song and accepted at Rangers and that it is unquestionably racist, unarguably sectarian and brushed off by Huns as 'satire', seemingly with a straight face.
The problem is when you accuse them of being vile ****s every time they play a match, do an interview or open the doors on a Monday morning you are diluting your own position and argument. It is the case of the boy who cried Hun. The Famine Song was borne out of this original song, which is in itself a fairly innocuous song. Given the rise of Sloop John B as a terrace favourite over the past 20 years, I am guessing just about every team in Europe, including Celtic, were involved in blatant hatred of the Irish community in Scotland? At Brentford, many years ago, there was a rousing rendition, on appearance of a British flag in the home end, of 'your Empire is over, why don't you go home'. This would post-date the origins of 'The Famine Song' by a good few years. Even more recently there were attempts by the Green Brigade to reclaim it with a fairly poor effort by their standards about their section 'singing on their own' and something about corporates. A poor effort, but by your criteria it would be racist and sectarian.

'The Rangers players who were banned for six games for breaching Covid-19 regulations have had their appeals dismissed.
Bongani Zungu, Nathan Patterson, Calvin Bassey, Dapo Mebude and Brian Kinnear were all charged after a party was broken up by police in February. Each received six-game bans, with two suspended until the end of the season. An independent appellate tribunal has upheld the punishments after Rangers contested the bans.' Cheating.rats |

They took an appeal that was dismissed. Thats not cheating. There is no definition of cheating that would encompass that.

If only we had proper journalists in Scotland, they would be asking questions of where that money is coming from. Nothing dodgy here, no money laundering, no siree, Bob. Financial fair play, my derriere. Hilarious how staunch they are that they started ending the payments in 1872 from November |
