My nephew is getting married Saturday week, 2nd June, the day before I fly out to Hungary
 .
I asked him about a present and he said he'd take cash.
Just wondering how much cash should I give him - no smart comments please

People usually give around 200 but since his you nephew maybe a bit more, about 300...depends how many you are bringing to the wedding. If its just you you might get away with 200, you and the Mrs add another 100 and probably another 50 for each child.

I went to a mates wedding last year and gave him a present I spent €175 on.
I also canvassed opinions beforehand and the general feedback was if you're going on your own give €100 and if her indoors is going give €150 or thereabouts. As its ur nephew, depending on how close you are to him or the parent I'd say you'd have to go minimum €200. |

It seems to be different here in Ireland though.
one of my mates married an english bird and a fair few of us went over for the wedding. Apparently its a bit of a tradition over there that close friends and family get together the day after as the bride is opening the gifts. She was from a fairly wealthy background and a few of us went along. Some of her Aunts and Uncles and friends gave them sh*t like pots for plants etc that were only £20 in Tesco and other crappy stuff. All the Irish without exception gave at least £100 each. It was morto stuff (for them) as she went through the presents. |
