The biggest loss to City in the last couple of years has been Fernandinho in midfield. He had it all and his tactical fouls stopped many’s a counter attack.

Gary Neville was right yesterday and got me thinking city do it a lot these days, when they’re in a good position on the attack they turn back for some reason. The likes of Bernardo, Mahrez, Sterling at times, get ahead of a defender and come back to try and beat him again.

There aren’t many city players having a good season. Even de Bruyne isn’t firing. Complaining about his lack of an off season and being tired after international duty doesn’t sound good either.

I’ve only seen that happening this season...and some of last.but the back to back league wins sterling,Silva etc were taking men on and running at them.most of our goals for those seasons were pull backs across the box after players had gone past full backs and squared the ball.im looking at us last night with 95% of the ball but being actually toothless then spurs get two shots on target and score...terrible stuff.that Ederson needs to lift his game aswell,he’s doing nothing for 80mins then let’s two in under his body.

If Ederson had stayed on his line I don’t think Son would have scored from there before Cancelo got across to him
He made plenty of mistakes last season too to cost goals

Ederson shouldn't have come off his line at all. Son was outside the box, and moving away from the goal.

Sane's long-term injury and transfer to Bayern shouldn't be discounted either. City just don't have the same pace in attack without him.

Start well, first spurs attack they score due to diabolical defending, city then dominate but can’t score
They only "dominated" in the sense of stats which ultimately were misleading.

Fact is, Mourinho dominated that game: he came up with a tactical plan to negate City's strengths, picked the team to put it into practice and motivated them to do so.

The proof of this lies not in the fact eg that City had 22 shots vs Spurs' 4(!), or even that they had 5 on target vs Spurs' 2(!!), while having 10 corners to Spurs 0(!!!).

Rather it is reflected in Hugo only having one difficult save to make during the entire game.

(It was also one in the eye for those who like to have a pop at Eric Dier - he and Toby A were immense in the centre of defence.)

That guy hasn’t been here since he bet his house on Liverpool winning the champions league last season. The 7/1 price was free money in his eyes.

Point blank, late on, saved with his body. But even then I'd say it was "difficult", without needing a "wonder save".

Indeed, the point being that he (and Sissoko) defended in front of the two CB's, meaning City were unable to pass their way through the centre of the Spurs defence, as is their preferred tactic.

So that when they instead had to try from the flanks (esp Mahrez vs Reguilon), they posed no real threat to a defence which stayed deep with plenty of bodies in/around the box and a gk whose catching/punching was up to the mark.

I'd love to think so, but after just 3 games, it's probably a bit premature to make that call. LOL

Ah right, yes that header straight at him

City were good up to they got near the box, combination of some good spurs defending and lack of spark/ideas when city got there

Anyway, need to go on a run now if they’re to get anywhere near a title challenge. Next four games have to be won, home to Fulham Burnley and west brom and away to united
A few wins in a row would get you motoring up the table this season the way it’s going
Liverpool still the team to beat. They look very good despite their injuries

Might easily have been even worse: for the Kane offside "goal", Son was well-placed to score it himself, had he been greedier.

There was also another one in the second half, where if Son's second touch hadn't been uncharacteristically heavy (ball ran towards the corner), he was a good bet to nick it past the advancing Ederson another time.

He wasn’t a favorite of mine mainly because he was such a lazy player who seemed not to give a f**k in certain matches but what a goalscorer he was.he would probably fit in well to peps team as he was a fox in the box type striker....one can only dream.

They haven't started the last few league games
Laporte has lost his place to Stones it seems since the Spurs defeat

But does Laporte have the balls to reclaim his place?

It just seemed a perfect opportunity to let 5/6 players stay home and give some game time to a few of the U23 team.

Pep was complaining about the number of games and only 3 subs.

Yeah sure he didn't make any subs at all on Saturday despite complaining all season about wanting to be able to make 5. In the Spurs game he only made 1 change.
He's pretty much started a whole new XI tonight, but the likes of Fernandinho probably need game time to keep him fresh as he's not first choice anymore. Then there's the likes of Bernado Silva who's form continues to be patchy and who isn't a first choice starter either anymore. I'd say of that starting team tonight only Gundogan and Mahrez will start against United
