It seems a lot of media channels are running with the "well its no fairytale story" agenda, about City winning through to the CL final last night.
1 - Who said it was? 2 - Who cares if it isn't? 3 - Were many winners of the CL in the last 20 years fairytale stories? Did their fans not celebrate or get excited about getting to the final because of this? |

The way it was being portrayed last night very much had the fairytale story vibe to it - Both online and mainstream reporting. The reason people object to that is that the richest club in the world being back by a nation who is using the club as a sportswashing vehicle is definitely not a fairytale story.

Did it? City have been either favourites or in the top 3 of the betting to win the CL every season for the last 3 or 4. Whoever is saying they're underdogs is clearly deluded. I haven't heard anyone describe it as such. I suppose they have just easily beaten a team who's attack cost more than City's whole starting XI come to think of it |

A Man City - Chelsea final would be interesting.
The nouveau riche vs the slightly less nouveau riche.

The defenders must have blocked 3/4 shots. They did hit the post but don’t remember the keeper making any saves.

PSG also hit the woodwork with the gk beaten (as did Foden for City). But neither counts as "on target" (obv), even though they often mean much more than eg a tame "shot on target" which the gk could have saved with his eyes shut. EDIT: Just noticed ZK's reference to PSG hitting the post.

They didn't have a shot on target since the 28th minute of the first leg There were quite a few blocks from defenders last night, Dias in particular. The possession stats don't surprise me, i thought first half in particular City weren't great and didn't keep the ball well enough, whether that was due to the conditions or the fact that Rodri wasn't on i'm not sure but Gundogan wasn't his usual self and Fernandinho was ok just first half, he improved second half

thought ferindino was outstanding all night....rodri left out and ferindino playing shows who pep trusts the most in the big games,I fully expect ferindino to start the final.hard to pick a poor performance from last night.the back four were unbelievable,Dias the pick of the bunch and city totally controlled the game.
Some of the football city played last night was sensational...probably city’s best all season.the players have been brilliant but pep has played a masterclass in squad rotation and motivation. |

There's no doubt PG has settled on a system that suits him and suits his players, such that he is building what looks to be the best team in Europe right now. But it would be a mistake to believe that football has now reached peak evolution i.e. that his is the only way to play. I mean, what if PG had a 26 or 27 y.o. Ronaldo, Lewandowski or Zlatan on the books? Or even a Sergio Aguero at that age? Would he still not try to find a system to fit them in? Remember, it's still only a season and a bit since Liverpool were producing a similar standard of football with Mo Salah playing as a "real" No.9 - Bayern, too, with Lewandowski. And then there's this:

I was wrong. Just like you have been countless times on here. Thiago best midfielder in the world, Kante in the top 5 over rated players in the world, Kyle Walker pathetic at football, EPL definitely not the best league in the world, I could go on
