Listening to Chris Sutton on the Monday night club talking about city, from last night

He described it as rubbish when questioned about them buying their success, said it’s part and parcel of managing at the highest level is and that if Liverpool had won the league they’d be talking about 75m for Van Dijk, 70m for Allison, 40m for oxlade chamberlain etc

He said Pep has got his transfers almost all right apart from Nolito

Not a great piece in terms of writing, I feel he got a bit emotional writing it, but everything he said is spot on.

It’s a brutally written piece
No wonder the Independent didn’t publish it despite him tweeting two weeks ago saying it was on its way.
The fact he had to go to pundit arena to get it published says it all really

Whether well written or otherwise, and irrespective of where it was published, what did you think of the gist of it?

Is he wrong in his analysis of what's going on with City's ownership?

Or is he wrong in his conclusion as to the significance of it?

Is there no case to be made for withholding support for City on account not of what the owners have been doing at home, but because they are using City to "sportswash" their reputation abroad?

Maybe you think it doesn't matter?

Or perhaps you really don't care?

These are genuine questions.

For as someone who was initially fairly agnostic about it all, I began to have my view altered by other comment in recent days, before this article just about confirmed my distaste for it all.

Therefore I am interested to know whether City fans like yourself have been similarly influenced to alter your view.

Your problem is that you listen to tedious dullards like Chris Sutton

Let's just say Chris doesn't strike me as much of a reader

I like football and Sutton knows football. I come on here to talk about football, I know bugger all about Middle Eastern regimes or politics, like 99% of football fans and members of this forum I would guess. They’re all suddenly experts on it since about 5pm on Sunday 12th May though LOL

I should maybe listen to your tedious and extremely weird Trump obsessed points on your various platforms - YBIG, GAA board and twitter
Would put me over to sleep at least anyway

I don’t know enough about it from reliable reputable sources yet to be honest

A Ewan McKenna pundit arena article talking about a girl working in Dunnes Stores in the 1970s and then at the end making some claims about City board members with sentences beginning “people say” is not exactly gospel for me yet.
He’s right about the city fan base becoming defensive on it though, but the level that the media campaign against the club has been cranked up since they won the league last week is unreal to be honest

Therefore you have to take all this with a pinch of salt for now

I'm a democratic socialist and have taken human rights seriously all my life

Football does not exist in isolation from the real world

Manchester City supporters' behaviour has been very Trump-like, the comparison clearly irks you

And then you prove the point again by using the word "obsessed"

It's a sure sign you're losing the debate when you have to resort to such a word - a word which is used to try and shut down debate - notably by, of course, Trump supporters

There you go again

Sutton is a tedious dullard who comes from the backward old school English football culture of the mid-90s where you got called gay if you read The Guardian

If you know bugger all about Middle Eastern regimes or politics perhaps you should start learning a bit about them rather than wallowing in ignorance

I wonder how many posts you’d have made about Trump on this thread had City not won the league.

You seem curiously evasive of any questions and points that have been aimed at you by various posters here and are just employing INTERNET techniques to try and shut down any debate

Interesting, very interesting, as Barry Davies would say
