Reading the book football leaks at the minute. Interesting with regards to atletico is the sheer influence Mendes has on their signings. Not a chance Simeone had any input in to the signing of Doherty. Unless Molina or Mandava get injured cant see him getting a look in.

It's not an ideal situation for ostensibly our best player to be in with the France game fast approaching. On the plus side, he went over there fully fit after working hard under the Conte regime, so fitness itself shouldnt be a problem, but you would like to see him getting at least some game time between now and then.

Given his lazy defending in the Scotland game which led to their equaliser after 50 odd minutes, I’d say his match fitness would definitely be an issue.

The evil Simeone never liked Young Doherty and has it in for him

He'll be grand, he keeps himself in good shape. He played every minute of every game for us for a period when he wasn't getting a look in at Spurs that included 3 games in 7 days and couple of other double headers.

He's only over there to get his handicap down, young Doc loves his golf and hates his day job.

Poor kid, young doc has his best years ahead of him.

Oh no, wait we're talking about a lad who is living off a good couple of seasons in the championship. The quicker he's out of squad reckoning the better!!!

Ham by name, ham by nature.

I may be a Ham but at least I'm right. How long has it been since he's had a good run of games, how long since he's put in a good performance. Few good seasons at wolves in the championship and he's the best thing since sliced bread. Average player. Must have a great agent.
