The boy Doherty was left out because Jose wants experience for the big games

Not in squad today, anyone know why ?

Didn’t think he would start as he started on Thursday. They won 4-0 so I would say it’s just using the entire squad rather than anything else.

Lots of games coming up over Xmas so need to rotate the players.

FA Cup and europa league for Matt until Aurier gets injured or loses form.

Based on what?

Before the international break Doherty played in the last 3 EPL games against Brighton, Burnley and West Brom.

He missed the Man City game due to COVID but played the next EL match.

Aurier was excellent against Man City, he wont be dropped for any big games unless he does something wrong.

I genuinely do think if Doherty was covid free he’d have played against City. A lot saying Aurier played well on Twitter I thought he was poor today tbh but they got the result. Don’t doubt Doherty will be first choice eventually again same happened after Aurier played against United he got the nod until he was absolutely atrocious for them in Europe thats Aurier he just has nightmare moments.

The whole team have been poor. It’s a very flat performance from spurs.

I said I don’t doubt Doherty will be first choice again soon only at the weekend. The way he played tonight he will be first choice to be sold off in January god he was dreadful.

Now it’s Aurier who will throw in an absolute stinker no doubt soon as well but by god Doherty was awful last night.

He is definitely a better Wing Back then full back but not for one second is he as bad as he has been in two or three games for Spurs whatever it is is up with him.

Spurs having such a big squad now means rotation will be ripe, fantastic if you're a manager to have so many options but a nightmare if you're a player that isn't indispensable.

Partly one of the reasons why Doherty was so good for Wolves (aside from the system) was that they had a small squad and Nuno rarely made too many changes to his starting 11. That added security is great for a players confidence (provided complacency wasn't allowed set in)

He has played 12 games so far this season and with a busy Xmas period coming up he will see plenty of game time.

Nothing to worry about.

dont disagree at all but would obviously like to see him as first choice instead of europa league and not even making the bench today. and yes understood he recently had covid but obviously played full match the other night.

Doherty playing tonight. Even if he is currently 2nd choice RB he is still playing every week....

Similar to Bale but I reckon the Welsh aren’t complaining. They would rather he stayed injury free.

Looks like Doherty and Coleman (is he injured) not making match day squads now.

Our 2 best players, hopefully their luck will change in the new year

Spurs supporting friend says basically Doherty has been muck for them, hence the reason he's not even making the bench.

The smallest bit of research would have shown you that Coleman is out injured and has been since before the England friendly. Doherty hasnt player much apart from Europa league recently.

We'll he had the spot until he for Covid and hasn't been back since, not sure if it was him being muck, not adapting to a back four, not recovering well from covid or Aurier doing nothing to lose his spot, probably a mix of them
