He seemed to get all over the news in the early 2000s

The time we met him he was not impressed with our"are you watching Roy Keane" flag

I am now led to believe that he doesn't use his real name.

I know nothing :-)

I think Alan didn't bring the full bell, just the end bit.

Imagine that being on Prime Time FFS.  An embarrassment.  The little matter of the fallout from the Iraq War was down the agenda of importance and was next up on the show after that. Sometimes you would actually be ashamed to be IrishEmbarrassed
Never embarrassed to be Irish, just embarrassed by some of those who are Irish.

If it's the same guy I'm thinking of, he was in Tbilisi last month. Was drinking in the Hangar the night before the match. His daughter is usually with him at the matches?

Is this the same chap who stated his hero was steeplejack Fred Dibnah?

The Wearside Jack of Irish football - does anybody know who he is?

Davy Keogh generally gets wheeled out for this kind of stuff now and he speaks extremely well. Obviously from his Liveline interview in November he is pro JD but was still very balanced IMO.

A very nice guy he is in person too

Fair play to Allan kept his All Ireland Shamrock Rovers shirt.
Should go into the Irish football museum after the revamp of DP.
