The narrative is - 1. He improved the squad. 2. There was none of the toxicity that was there at the end of Mourinho. 3. The club is in a better position now than when he took over. In reality - 1. He was the most backed United manager of all United managers since Ferguson - it would have been hard not to improve the squad with that insane level of backing. Funny though that they gave all the backing to the worst of the four post Ferguson managers - worst by a country mile even. 2. United have produced some of the worst results and performances in the history of the club in the last few weeks. Ole had to face bad abuse from the away end yesterday. The players couldn't have been less arsed, there have been so many reports of negativity in the dressing room, constant leaks - the toxicity is well and truly there. 3. They weren't in that bad a position when he took over. Mourinho had just presided over the best league finish since Ferguson and after not getting a centre back that Summer like he asked for, decided to give up. Essentially 2 months of sh*te ensued and he was sacked. Literally the same as Ole. Obviously some of the personnel are better as mentioned in point 1 but how could they not be? The mental gymnastics involved in defending Ole are something to behold. Even Neville on Sky earlier saying that nobody could have predicted this. This was very predictable. The warning signs were there for a long time, as early as the two months immediately after Ole got the gig full time.

He’ll get fairer treatment given his long history with the club. But the facts don’t speak particularly well, especially given the money spent on players. Compare this with Chelsea who took action with Lampard as results were failing. OGS stayed one ahead of the game but that started to derail too.

Would think this would be the best option alright Will United be competent enough to do it, probably not Carrick as second favourite as next permanent manager behind Rodgers tells it's own story

Next permanent manager has to either be Pochettino or ten Hag.

A touch of the Jose appointment about it. Touted for a long time, and when it finally happens it wasn’t as good as was hoped for. He’s not a particularly decorated manager, and seemed To have a similar mindset about the importance of winning cups as OGS.

Well he'd certainly be a better appointment than the others they've been linked with. Rodgers and Carrick are joint second favourite behind him on PP. Rodgers is all over the shop at Leicester this season - seems to have no idea what his best team or formation is and they are languishing in the bottom half of the table - on current trajectory he won't last the season. And then there's Carrick which would basically be going down the OGS route again of hiring an unproven manager on the basis of his former playing career with the club.

Agree on both Rodgers and Carrick
I tend to agree with Hetfield though that it might not be as good as hoped Or it could just being me being stuck on Ragnick and then Ten Hag as being the best option

If Rodgers comes along with two of Leicester's midfield he would have half the job done. The other half would be getting rid of Ronaldo

It would damage this forums' reputation

Quite poorly. Taking him and Martial off for Fernandes and Rashford turned the game. That should be Martial's last game in a United shirt. He has been utter muck for a long time.

Martial was the biggest problem on the pitch - Everybody looked better once he was taken off. I suspect VDB would have too but didn't get the chance. As soon as Martial departed the press was more coherent and began higher, and Villareal were forced deeper as there was more of a threat in behind from Rashford who actually attempted to move. Martial is an abysmal player. Horrific attitude, horrific application and very limited skillset.
