His documentary "the Football Men" was superb. About Busby, Shankly and Stein, well worth a watch. |

"Tell them to get out there and give it all they got and win just one for the Zipper. I don't know where I'll be then, Doc," he said, "but I won't smell too good, that's for sure."

This piece is worth a read too. He had a great voice for narration on the Football's Greatest series.

He was really good in that show. He was also excellent in The Old Guys. One of the most underrated sitcoms of recent years, alongside Roger Lloyd-Pack, both gone now.

"I'm me and nobody else; and whatever people think I am or say I am, that's what I'm not, because they don't know a bloody thing about me.” “All I'm out for is a good time - all the rest is propaganda.” "Don't let the bastards grind you down" Finney will always be Arthur Seaton to me......... He also refused a knighthood and some other award from Lizzie

A brilliant adaptation of my favourite book. The perfect choice to play a working class rebel. He stuck to his principles in the roles he took on and in snubbing the cousin f**kers. |

Fantastic actor up there with the very best.
His performance as Churchill was off to a tee and pisses all over two decent portrayals by Oldman and Gleeson.
