He was the last of the great British/Irish hellraisers.
Richard Burton 1984 (58) Oliver Reed 2000 (61) Richard Harris 2002 (72) Peter O'Toole 2013 (81) A very good age for him to make with that lifestyle. The end of an era. |

Didn't O'Toole give up the booze after a health scare in the early 80s? I think I remember reading that he did and is probably why he lasted so long. There is a book I have on my reading list that I haven't got around to called 'Hellraisers: The Life and Inebriated Times of Burton, Reed, Harris and O'Toole'. It is supposed to be very well written and the stories must be great.

Remember reading a story of O'Toole and Michael Caine going out on the lash. They both wake up in O'Toole's flat Michael Caine turns to him and asks him what time is it to which O'Toole replies never mind what time it is what f**king day is it

I saw Stephen Fry tell a great one about going to see a play in the West End and O'Toole came in and sat near him. About 15 or 20 minutes in the actors stopped as if waiting for something and O'Toole jumped up, shouted that's my cue and climbed onto the stage.

Paddy Ashdown was one of the few political leaders I ever mwt. At a protest outside the Chinese Embassy, June 1989 after the Tiananmen Square massacre. He was chatting away to the student protesters animatedly in surprisingly fluent Chinese. May he rest in peace

Sandra Locke. She was Clint Eastwood's partner from 1975-1989, co-starring with him in The Outlaw Josey Wales. The Gauntlet,Every Which Way But Loose,Bronko Billy,Any Which Way You Can and Sudden Impact. They had a horrendous breakup,Eastwood locking her out of the house with no notice, moving her belongings into storage and conspiring with the studio to destroy her directorial career, she sued him and won.He really didn't come out of it very well at all.She died on November 3rd but it was only publicised last week.

I suppose it was considered a Locke out? Clintwood seems to be a **** in general. Is he still alive? He must be due in here soon. He must be pushing 150.
