Another amazing achievement Clap its not a long time ago in the grand scheme of things when we were whipping boys of this tournament. Winning the odd big game here and there. Now look at us. Class stuff from all involved to get to the top of the world.

The crowd are very quiet.  Probably cant clap and hold the Brown Thomas bag at the same time I suppose.

Fair play to Paul McShane for handing out the medals.

My recollection of the 1995 friendly with England was a Brown Thomas bag, with the torse being tossed from the upper west.

Very ropey first half hour, weathered the storm and were good for the lead before the red on halftime. England were very unlucky with the red I thought.

Encouraging for the WC, the "they go out in the QF's" narrative will be there until they don't, but as of now, they have them in the best possible position. A case of maintaining that level now for another 8 months.

Think it was Switzers back then

Yep, I don't think anyone is getting ahead of themselves this time either. But we're as well set up as possible, just hope it's NZ and not France in quarters. Think France would beat us at that stage. Dupont is one of the greatest ever, superb again today.

Eh we just beat France a few weeks ago. Granted at home but still we played some great rugby that day. I dont want NZ in the quarters. They still have the ability to blow any team away if they click. Were used to France. Id fancy us to beat them even at home. Not going to be easy. Scots worry me in the group stage aswell.

Could argue that alright! Just think France have looked much better since, NZ aren't the team they used to be, and we'd have the bigger support at it.

Are all rugby nations as dismissive about the importance of a World Cup or is it just an Ireland thing? Sexton afterwards was talking to the interviewer saying how the 6 nations is the best tournament to play in. Especially in a world Cup year, found that an odd thing to say.

Think winning a 6 nations in a World Cup year is similar to in Gaelic games winning the league. Like it’s good to win a league medal but everyone knows the one to win is the Championship. Nobody will really remember who won the 6 nations after the World Cup final

Such a load of sh*te talk. The WC is every 4 years. The IRFU makes around 6 million for topping the table and another million for the grand slam. Not to be sniffed at. Not exactly sure how much you get for winning the WC. Will we win a WC who knows. Its difficult and a lot of things have to go right. If we dont we will survive. Winning 6 Nations and grand slams if possible will most definitely also be remembered.
