Having won the last two 6 nations, winning it again this year would have been nice but not ground breaking in the grand scheme of things. The world cup is everything this year.Make the semis or more and it will be a very good to great end to the Joe schmidt era. Go out before that, playing like they did yesterday and it will be a huge disappointment and taint his whole reign. He has done way too much with Ireland for it to be down to luck.

FFS

Ireland’s most successful coach ever.
3 championships in the last 5 years.
Brilliant results against the Southern Hemisphere teams.

The only stain on his cv is the World Cup which he has a chance to correct this year.

And by the time we hit the QF stage in 2015 the guts of the team had been ripped out, with more injuries to come during the QF.

So the best team in the world were easily pummeled by an average team with a good game plan, and then the best supporters just forgot how long the game goes on for, proper bandwagon coonts

First things first no coach is above criticism.
However if you are looking at Schmidt’s reign as a whole winning 3 out of 5 six nations which in your own words is the barometer means he must be doing something right.

If we had the greatest bunch of players ever available to a coach in the six nations you could argue well any coach would do what he is doing f .  That’s not the case, as a result his record with Ireland is excellent. You may not like the style of rugby but that’s a different question but doing any sort of fair and objective review of his performance as head coach for Ireland you have to st he has done an excellent job.
AKA pedantic kunt

But despite their struggles, beating them is better than beating New Zealand? Who has mentioned Kidney or O'Sullivan, they are irrelevant to the post I took issue with!
It isn't even that I am disagreeing with what you are saying, I think there is a kernel of truth in there, just that it is being put forward in a ridiculous and senseless manner and is getting worse with each post. Think before you type!

Haven't turned into a bad team because of one game. Didn't play well enough and were beaten by a better team be it with a couple of questionable decisions by the referee thrown in. Take it, learn from it, move on.
Some people just deserve a slap

A fella in the Indo saying there were only 10k Irish fans in the stadium less than ten minutes before kick off and this for one of the most hyped home matches in many years.

It shows they're attracting a lot of fairweather Johnny come lately fans, just like the football team.

Always found it a very different crowd, loads there for the day out, more interested in pints than watching the match.

Drove me nuts there the last day watching lads coming and going for pints during the actual game when people would've killed to be there.

Seems to be the norm, people going along for "entertainment" and as if they're attending a pop concert.

The sight of thousands of empty seats when the two teams were coming out the other evening was bizarre. It was killing the atmosphere.
