Right lads, Paul Hyland has narrowed it down to these 6 to replace Trap.

What a Clown

Quote UNEMPLOYED Irish managers are lining up ready to replace under-pressure Giovanni Trapattoni, who was yesterday forced to dismiss speculation that he is on Blackburn Rovers’ management short list.

Mick McCarthy, Roy Keane and Brian Kerr are all available and interested and they were joined yesterday by Owen Coyle after he was sacked by Bolton.

Reading boss Brian McDermott is also thought to be interested should his club’s billionaire Russian backers choose to go for a bigger name in the next few months.

Oman manager Paul Le Guen has also recently expressed an interest.

At first glance, the Blackburn link appears to be nothing more than a social media trend, but it's not the first time |Trapattoni's name has been linked with jobs outside Ireland and the trip to Kazakhstan proved that he still has wealthy admirers who would sign him up in an eyeblink.

I think the fact he even mentions Keane and Kerr shows him to be really naive. Poorly thought out, something you'd expect from a schoolboy

Hyland can go back playing with his abacus.

Trap will not be going anywhere for a number of reasons, but I do think the FAI should make some preliminary enquiries of who would be interested.

Somebody mentioned Bruce Arena in another thread which is an interesting choice.

When the devil got a hold of me,
He wouldn't set me free,
So he kept me soul for ransom.

The amount of people on here touting the usual EPL suspects is ridiculous. We need to be a bit more adventureous as someone suggested earlier Bruce Arena. Would be an interesting punt he's been to what 2 World Cups (Granted Concacaf isn't that strong but the US aren't that shabby). Might also be able to pick up a couple of Irish Americans (Not in the Joey Lapria mould though hopefully )

Surprised  'Arry hasn't been mentioned yet.

It would divide the nation I think, some would see him as another Venables type, some would be happy as he is a recognisable ' Name' manager.

Very hard to call, he usually brings short term success wherever he goes (before financially ruining said club, as Mr Alex pointed out before), plays a decent brand of ball, but all that is based on an enormous amount of chopping and changing players, something that wouldn't be available to him to the same degree as an international manager.

He would no doubt have some degree of motivation to do well after being overlooked for his dream England job, ya wouldn't have to tell him to attend games, he seems to go to most of them even now when he has no job, and as long as Mick Wallace is in the dail, we can't really say too much over any tax issues he may or may not have with HM revenue.

There will naturally be plenty who would dismiss that idea straight away, but this time last year, the FAI probably couldn't have afforded him (may or may not still be the case).

In general, hard to know, depressingly, the bookies lists won't be that dissimilar to Hyland's, eejit and all as he may be. What's Phillipe Troussier up to these days anyway ??

Go way will you..........I couldn't give a sh*t if he's been sacked or not - I'm merely expressing my opinion, which is that he's not good enough. I'd have Mick back way before him and he's been sacked numerous times. Fickle, my bollocks Thumbs Down
