He's had a good first half, composed on the ball, no mistakes, excellent positioning in that defensive midfield role and good movement off the ball. Here's hoping he can avoid any injuries before the Ireland games later this month.

It’s just a disaster for him and for us. He is still a fine player but was developing into a proper midfielder that was being linked to Spurs and Arsenal among others after a big move to Everton. Not entirely unlike Idrissa Gueye let’s say that sort of profile not the best on the ball but a real top class stopper.
Dont agree with the sl*gging or the lack of commitment jibes.

I've always liked James McCarthy but at this stage he just isn't a reliable option for us anymore. You can't plan to have him in the team due to the amount of injuries he picks up. I hope Cullen gets a shot now and impresses because it's a position which is up for grabs and we need someone in there who can be relied upon.
